CoBALT Golf Outing A Big Success!

Posted by Mark Dietz at Aug 20, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
THANK YOU to all 57 golfers who made the annual fund-drive a success! Great times were had by all and we appreciate the support of those loyal players, friends, and family who came out to support the Cobalt cause. We couldn't do it without you - Coach and Mrs. Coach are DEEPLY grateful. For those who missed it - "bummer for you" imageimage
Put your fears to rest, the Outrigger LIVES and The Tiki Hut is expected to be back up running by September 1st. They'll have plenty of time to get ready for the CoBALTS blowing into Ft. Myers for the World Series (Oct 30 - Nov 7). The area was hard hit but all the staff are fine as well are the fields and stadiums used during the Roy Hobbs World Series. Players and Fans should be checking on airfares NOW! There are some great prices, even on direct flights.image

Freedom Stadium sight of CoBALTS vs. Reds

Posted by Mark Dietz at Aug 12, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Thanks to Q-Jones, the CoBALTS played another game in a top-notch facility, this time on Sunday, August 22nd versus the Cincinnati Reds of the Roy Hobbs League. The CoBALTs hung onto a 6-5 win with Paul Krause getting the "w" and Brian Akers went 4-5 with 2 triples. More importantly, Rob Lambert's Reds squad helped the CoBALTS knock a little rust off in getting ready for Canada. The Florence Fredom Stadium (Champion Windows Field) is located on Freedom Boulevard just off St. Rt. 42 at the Florence/Union exit (off of I-75). Park on the 1st base side of stadium - nearest to the highway). imageimage
Despite a pitching staff that was championship caliber, the CoBALT's bats proved to be too weak to get the job done. In Game 2 versus Montgomery Inn, Shannon Morgan deserved better than one stinking run. In Game 3, the defense, solid all year long, went sour in a loss to the Hilltoppers - Aichel also deserved better. Becker and Krause never got to the hill, and the Coach has another year to stew over "what ifs" ...but CONGRATS to the Montgomery Inners!image
