Akron A's Too Much for Short-Handed CoBALTS

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 2, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
With a patch-work line-up and 4 missing players, the CoBALTS hung with the powerful Akron A's for 5 innings. But blown hamstrings (Scott McVey), torn calf muscles (Wags), dislocated fingers (Todd Hiler), pinched nerves (Rocky), Jim Beam's revenge (Franky), torn knee ligaments (Mike Prosser), and pitching ace no-shows (KB) was too much to overcome. CoBALTS stand at 2-2 and need to win Thursday's seeding round game to stay at the 3A Level. The unprecedented rash of injuries has been hard to handle but the 'Balts who are left standing will make every effort to bring home a championship. image

CoBALTS Stand at 2-1 Going into Tuesday

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 1, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Mike Wagner goes 8 1/3 (7 innings of no-hit) versus the Atlanta Orioles in a 4-3 Monday AM Win. Brian Akers gets the Save. Steve Stigler (2-3, two run HR) leads the offense along with Rocky Curnayn (4-4). Wags' dominance on the mound was all the more impressive given his torn calf muscle that has severely hobbled our 4-hole hitter and starting pitcher. In the afternoon game, versus defending champions Charlotte Kings, the CoBALTS let down defensively and couldn't find the clutch hit in a 6-0 loss. Starter Dave Prosser kept the 'Balts close and Vic Carreon was strong in relief: 3 innings and 0 runs. Critical Game today: versus 2002 Champions Akron A's (1:45 PM). image
