Total TEAM Effort Delivers CoBALT Championship

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 10, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
In the 6 Victories it took to capture the AAA Roy Hobbs World Series Title, ALL 19 Cobalts and fans contributed heavily. Here are a few of the highlights as I remember them: * Akes' leadership by example at the top of the order and in Centerfield * Todd Hiler's incredible clutch RBI's and glove work despite a broken finger * Stiggy once again being THE Hitting Machine and Gutty Pitcher * Spriggs Monster catching 16 innings on Championship Day - MVP! * Wags throwing a No-Hitter thru 7 innings with a torn calf muscle * Rocky hitting bombs - and setting the record for Jaeger-Bombs * Scott McVey hitting Gapper after Gapper despite being "shot from the grassy knoll" * Frank "Beam & Coke" Arnold being Mr. Clutch at the plate and shooting the Thunder runner to end the Semi Final Game * Mike Prosser's 3-3, 3RBI's to help seal the Kenmore Victory * Scrote Dietz's undying commitment to the Cobalts giving us mound and baserunning help during the toughest of times * Dougy Michelsen and Tom Taylor flying thru the night to save the day - and playing like champs at the plate and in the field * Dave Prosser humping it 3 times on the mound for his new buddies from 'Natti - a TOTAL class act * Glen Hock's great Save versus Utah and B-Rabbit in Left Field and on the bases * Vic "Fantasy" Carreon returning to form in two great pitching outings and overcoming a chronic hammy * John Q Christmann holding up the outfield and stealing bases despite water-head * Captain Bo holding up the infield and driving in the game winner versus UTEK * Shannon "Mr. November" Morgan taking the pill knowing he's going to be the hero - and delivering, AGAIN * Mrs. Coach getting players from the Airport, to Sign-in, to the Game and anywhere else they needed to be - despite being pregnant with Dietz Twins. Thank you Honey! I want to thank all my teammates for a fantastic trip and for giving up their bodies for the Cobalt Cause. A Championship I'll NEVER forget!!! Sincerely, Coachimage

CoBALTS 3A World Series CHAMPIONS !!!

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 6, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The CoBALTS finished 2004 with a bang as they defeated the Chicago Giants 8-4 and claimed the Roy Hobbs 3A Crown. Shannon Morgan took the hill in hopes of going 3, maybe 4 innings. Instead he pumps it up again and goes all 9 in a complete game Win to lead the CoBALTS to Victory. Shannon pitched in 4 games in 6 days, threw 21 innings, 2 Wins and 1 Save - WOW !!! The CoBALTS wasted no time in jumping on the Giant pitcher scoring 3 runs in the first inning that quieted the normally "excitable" Chicago squad. Then by adding a run in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and playing incredible defense the 'Balts looked like they were in the driver seat. But as always, DRAMA... After Chicago Giant 2 run rallies in the 6th and 7th making it a close 6-4 game, the CoBALTS stepped up and scored two runs in the ninth behind Steve Stigler's double. Stiggy was 4-4 with 4 RBI's topping off his 15 hit tournament.image

CoBALTS Outlast Point Thunder in Semi Finals

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 5, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
The Cincy boys out hit the Jersey boys in an 11-9 Win for the CoBALTS. Steve Stigler humped it for 6 plus innings on the mound with clutch Save and Hold pitching from Dave Prosser and Shannon Morgan. Scott McVee returned to his hot hitting going 4-4 with 4 RBI's and Steve Stigler went 3-5 with 3 RBI's. Dougy Michelsen added 3 hits and 3 RBI's. The Win sends the CoBALTS to the Championship Game versus the powerful Chicago Giants in the City of Palms Stadium - home of the improbable World Champion Boston Red Sox.image

CoBALTS Win Seeding Game

Posted by Mark Dietz at Nov 4, 2004 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Fresh Troops arrive just in time here in Ft. Myers to help the CoBALTS get a crucial Win versus Utah Mets (12-8). Dougy Michelsen and Tommy Taylor arrived after midnight and gave the battered squad a badly needed injection of fresh legs, arms, fingers, etc. Tom Taylor lead the offense with a 2 run Homer and a double. Frank Arnold also recovered from his "ailment" to go 4-4 with 4 RBI's. Vic Carreon goes 6 innings in the Win. A gutty 106 pitch performance and was then picked-up by Glen Hock's 3 innings for the Save. The Win gives the CoBALTS a seeded BYE in the 3A Tournament starting today: 10 AM versus old nemesis UTEK at the City of Palms Stadium. image
