Morgan and Monster Pump It Up

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 3, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Shannon Morgan went all 7 (even taking a mortar round to the elbow) and Joe Spriggs "Monster" went 3-3 with 4 RBI in a nice win over the Royals who sported a tough lefty (especially with wood). Cobalts need to pump up the volume again this Sunday as the Suds blow into Rocket High.image

Scrote Gives Old-'Balts Just What They Need

In his first start in 4 years, Jeff "Scrote" Dietz stepped up, took the pill, and went 6 innings for a Win Thursday night over the Rockies. Another 9-guy roster situation had TR at shortstop (actually played well) but was aided by the return of Timmy Lit'l 'Balt Klanke who went 3-3 with an HR in his first 2005 appearance. image

CoBALTS Give Freedom No Scare - But Have Fun

Posted by Mark Dietz at May 21, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The vastly improved Florence Freedom of the Frontier Professional League showed off an impressive pitching staff in shutting down the CoBALTS wood bats on Friday night. In what was basically a 6-0 game after 9 innings, with the CoBALTS managing just one hit with the wood bats (a double in the first by Tom Taylor). The flame throwing staff of the Freedom were helped by excellent defense in the field robbing several CoBALTS of extra base hits. Keith Becker (3 innings, no runs, 1 hit) showed again that he can compete against the best at age 30 and Shannon Morgan went 5 giving up just 3 earned runs. Great work against a line-up of strong studs all under age 24. The CoBALTS would like to thank the Staff of the Freedom for inviting the 'Balts to their impressive new stadium for the exhibition. (Q is still "the man"). All baseball fans should get down to Florence to see the vastly improved team and facility. Best of luck to the Freedom.image

Enough Celebrating - Get Ready for 2005

Posted by Mark Dietz at Feb 25, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
With the Championship 2004 Season behind us, the Cobalts now take on the next challenge in their upcoming 18th season. After winning the 2004 regular season CRC Title and the AAA World Series Championship, the Cobalts have decided to move full-time into the Roy Hobbs Upper Division in Cincinnati (ages 28 years and older). The move will allow the Cobalts to keep most of the core team members without sacrificing the level of play. We will remain close to our friends in the CRC and hope to see many of them on the diamond in the coming years. In fact, many of the Cobalts will pull duel duty with "partner teams" in the CRC until their wives reel them in.image
