Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 31, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Ending the longest losing streak in 12 years (recent losses to Astros and Suds included), the Cobalts brought out the bats on Sunday in a 25-8 victory over the Orioles. Stiggy went 6-6, Mike Hatfield went 5-6 with an opposite field HR, and Keith Becker (yes Beck the pitcher) went 3-5 with a lazer shot HR over the left centerfield fence. Shane Hilliard and El Vic-a-tor combined for the Win on the hill. Next up: Wednesday 6:30 at McNick versus Rangersimage

Cobalts Crash - Lose 3 Straight

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 20, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Caught in their worst stretch of baseball since 1997, the Cobalts gave up a 6 run lead to the Yankees to chalk up another loss. This coming after a complete thrashing by the hands of the Astros has put the Cobalts squarely in the middle of what can be called a "bad season" standing at 9-7. On a good note, Paul Krause's return after knee surgery was successful. He went 6 innings and should have had a victory. Next up: Cincinnati Suds 10AM at McNick image

CoBALT Starters Must Have Been Abducted

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 10, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Take nothing away from the Red Sox (2-0 versus the Roy Hobbs version of the 'Balts), but for the second time this year the Cobalt's pitching staff disappears on the way to the field. So, Cobalts go off half-loaded and get their clocks cleaned 11-4 in a league game. When Coach asked where any of his 5 starters could possibly be, someone correctly stated that only an alien abduction could account for the madness. Well, hopefully the Mother Ship returns the Cobalt Staff before too long as upcoming games will be challenging enough without missing starters. Cobalt Ale and Stiggy Too Much for Brew Crew

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jul 7, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Cobalts win their 6th straight league game over the Brew Crew 9-1. Steve Stigler goes all seven and gets the Win while striking out 9 batters. Tim Klanke went 1-1 with 3 walks and scored 4 runs in the lead-off position. Mulves stayed out for celebrations beers. Frank Arnold had "A Day" going 4-4 with a Home Run. Frankie also was solid behind the dish going 1-1 throwing out would-be basestealers. Shannon Morgan remained undefeated going all nine innings in the humid heat (his Under-Roos fit much better now). Next up: Thursday 6:30 at McNick vs Rangersimage
