CoBALT HOT STOVE LEAGUE...BIG NEWS!!!

Posted by Mark Dietz at Dec 7, 2005 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
It's Official! After many hours of negotiations (at Hooters), the Cincinnati Super Team has now been formed: the Cincinnati CoBALTS and Cincinnati Hilltoppers are combining full-time - playing as the CoBALTS in 2006. For several years, the combo package has worked smoothly, yielding several tournament victories including the Roy Hobbs Cincinnati Title and AAA World Series title. Now, the combination will suit up full time, playing in several leagues, and travelling to several different tournaments and World Series events. The regular season schedule will include Roy Hobbs League Play, CRC League Play, Invitational Weekend Tournaments, and Qualifications for NABF, NABA, RHWS National Tournaments. The CoBALTS would like to express their gratitude and respect to the Hilltoppers Organization (including Dave Meyers and Ron Reiger) who helped bring this marriage of two long-time squads together. we look forward to continuing on the Cincinnati Baseball Legacy. Only question yet to be answered is: wether this new Team is Sem-i Pro or Sem-e Pro? Whichever, we know it's not anything close to "Recreational". Ice up the Natural Lites. The boys from Natti are gearing up in 2006 !!!

After Hurricane Wilma forced a 7-Game-in-4-Day schedule, the Cobalts posted an impressive 5-2 record in the AAAA Bracket of the Roy Hoobs World Series...Good enough to win a Bronze Medal. Wins over New Jersey UTEK, Naples RS Walsh Landscaping, Chattanooga Kodak Reds, Atlanta Orioles, and Toledo Harry Young Builders. Losses came to eventual champions Charlotte Kings and the re-match against Harry Young. Tom Taylor was named MVP after averaging more than 2 hits per game and playing great defense at SS despite a sore knee. Some Highlights of a great Tournament: * Lanai Kai Cold Showers * Akes' Winning the Beach Ball Toss at the Lanai Kai * Coach dominating No Limit Hold'em at the Lanai Kai * Saturday night stabbings outside Willy's room at the Lanai Kai * Disturbing Dave Prosser's Love-Swing on the top of the Lanai Kai * Bo parking the Lit'l Boy Bomb at the Lanai Kai * Rocky crashing the gates of the Lanai Kai * Cat Girl over-serving Vic at the Lanai Kai (I'm sawing my steak) * Doug and Keith chatting late night at the Lanai Kai * White Chocolate breakin' it down at the Lanai Kai * Glen being trapped in Mrs. Coach's car after going AWOL at the Lanai Kai * The smell of bar stench in the morning at the Lanai Kai * Jason and Dougy's 6 Waffle House meals across from the Lanai Kai Appreciate the efforts of all the Cobalts who kept with the program and made it down to Ft. Myers despite the 2 seperate delays in schedules. We could easily have bagged the entire thing but we showed the true meaning of "Teammates" by all getting down there and finishing with a strong 3rd place. As always, I thanks each and every Cobalt and their families...looking forward to 2006!!!image

COBALTS WIN...CHAMPIONS AGAIN...Beat Suds 8-3

Posted by Mark Dietz at Sep 28, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Despite warnings from old superstitious pitchers, The Cobalts busted out the new uniforms and became Tournament Champions. Keith Becker dominated from the beginning, striking out 12 Suds in an 8-3 Cobalt Championship victory over the always tough Cincinnati Suds. Tom Taylor was 4-4 with two 2Bs and 4 Runs scored. Dougy Michelsen was also 4-4 with an HR and 4 RBIs. Scrote dominated the basepaths again with 2 stolen bases and a "run ran in" The Cobalts add another jewel to their growing crown of recent championships including the 2004 CRC Regular Season Title, 2004 AAA World Series Title, and now the 2005 Cincinati Roy Hobbs Tournament Championship. Great job to all Cobalts. Every single player contributed to the victory...Now on to Fort Myers for another title!image
