Cobalts Sit on Lead, Beat Suds 8-6

Posted by Mark Dietz at Apr 29, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
After jumping out to an 8-1 lead, the Cobalts sat on it like a "front-wiper" to post their 2nd Victory of the season. Shannon Morgan held the Suds to only 2 runs in 6 innings and then it got interesting in the 9th. Stiggy gets the Save, PJ Eilerman posts two nice innings in a "hold" situation. Hits came from many 'Balts spread throughout the potent line-up. Tom Taylor and Jess Bechard provided defensive web gems that kept the Suds at bay. NEXT: Wednesday (May 10th) at 7:00pm (be at field 6:00pm) Versus: Bulls at Crosley in Blue Ash Uniform: same as game 1&2 (gray pants, navy jersey, gold sleeves, navy hat, sox, belts) image
The optimism and high expectations going into '06 were delivered in Game #1 with a strong 18-2 victory over the Cincinnati Royals. The Royals, who were last year's National League champs, jumped out to a 2-0 first inning lead. But then it was all Cobalts. Home Runs from Wags (3-3) and Captain Bo (2-4) lead the hit parade with help from Akes and his lob wedge (3-4, 2,2Bs). Pitching was dominant with Shannon Morgan getting the Win. Paully and Wags each also threw 2 scoreless innings. So far so good! Next up: Cincinnati Astros (Sunday 30th at McNick 9AM)image

Q Makes it Thru Brain Surgery

Posted by Mark Dietz at Apr 7, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
On a serious note...John "Q" Christmann, an Original Cobalt of 20 years, has been struggling the past several years with vertigo, naseau, and head-aches only to find out the cause was a tumor of the brain. Good news is that it is not cancerous AND he is recovering from surgery this past Friday. Obviously, a great relief to all family and friends, especially his wife and two young sons. Please keep your thoughts and prayers aimed towards Q's quick recovery so that he may once again claim his title as "fastest man on the team" and prowl the outfield in his #23. Get well soon, RedMan!imageimage
