Becker Too Sexy for Rangers in 12-2 Undressing

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 18, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Keith Becker threw a 14 strikeout complete game Sunday versus the Rangers in Win #15 for the Cobalts. But the real story this Father's Day was Beck's 2 at-bats that resulted in 4 RBIs, 1 HR and 1 Double. Tom Taylor also added to his impressive totals with a 3-4 day and 3 RBIs. Johnny Mederer, yes YOUR #13, also had 2 hits as did fellow Roof Man, Akes. Cobalts now stand at 15-2. image
Jess Bechard (an illegal baseball alien from Canada) helped lead the Cobalts to 2 CRC victories this week. In Thursday night's victory, Shannon Morgan stifled a Swinger squad that was led mostly by the home-plate ump who took the hill in their first inning and did damage to KHat's batting average. Bottom line: Cobalts 5, Swingers 1 Friday night's gig went 11 innings with Mike Taylor throwing a strong 6 2/3 innings against a powerful Cheviot Squad that included many guys who looked like Suds. Then, Brian "hump it up" Akers took over and held down the Patriots in relief for 2 1/3 innings. Fianlly, Patrick O'Brien (who still wishes he had his Uncle TR's power) scored the go ahead run in the 11th. That's when the Canadian Stallion, Bechard stepped up and took the pill, bounced a few up to the plate but somehow got 3 outs and the Save. Cobalts now stand 14-2. image

Stogies Bloody Cobalts' Noses in 5-1 Loss

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 9, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Cobalts came back after a nice win with a big fat yawn...and paid for it. The always tough Stogies put a pre-pubesent left-hander on the hill who worked out of early jams and then the 'Balts allowed him to go on cruise-control. Rocky Curnayn acconted for the lone Cobalt run with a solo (jaeger) bomb to left. Not much really to talk about in this one except that maybe a little bloody nose will help wake up the Cobalts and avoid more sleepwalking into CRC League Games. Record stands at 12-2image
The Crazy RedHead pumped it up again as Shannon Morgan stifled Cheviot bats to only 2 hits in a 2-0 Victory. The Patriots threw their own tough redhead, Jeff Saunders, who also threw a nice game keeping the Cobalts down to only one real rally but it proved to be enough. Mikey "Lit'l T" Taylor came up big with the two out hit scoring the only 2 runs. The rest of the Cobalts scattered 9 hits but couldn't plate any further runs (well, except for that one run that Hock scored but was negated due to umpire insanity). Anyway, Cobalts take the hard fought Win and suit up again tonight versus the Stogies (6:30 at Roselawn). Your 2006 Cobalts improve to 12-1 Footnote to #3: I think he REALLY was trying to hurt your skull...Hey Batter Batter!image

Paully Super Again! Crushes Yankees 9-1

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 7, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Paully Krause continues to "pack the steal" as he throws a 3 hit, 8 strikeout, complete game victory over the Yankees Wednesday night. Wags brought the lumber as he goes 2/3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Boo and Bo also combine for 2 RBIs each with 2/3 nights. The Cobalts scored early and often in this one and never looked back. Next up: Cheviot (Thurs) and Stogies (Fri) should make for some good games. Come on out to Roselawn Park and enjoy a Natural Lite with the boys...both games are 6:30pm start times. Your 2006 Cobalts are now 11-1 image
