News and Announcements

Ryle High School is not on the way to anywhere (except Diesel and Mick's Crittenden, KY homes) but enough Cobalts barely made it to the field on-time to take care of the Roy Hobb's National League leading White Sox 10-0. Akes took the hill in the first throwing a perfect 1-2-3 inning and then Shannon Morgan threw the rest giving up only 3 hits for the Win. Jess Bechard was 3-4 with a first inning HR that set the table for the route. Akes, Captain Bo, and Richie Ayala all added 3 hits each. Morgan also was 2-3 at the plate. Next up: The Cincinnati Force at Roselawn tonight (Thurs) at 6:30 (wear white pants, gold jersey, navy hat, navy sleeves) Cobalts now stand at 18-3image
Keith Becker goes the distance scattering 4 hits in 7 innings to record the Cobalts 19th Victory. Beck was a little wound-up for this one and brought several pitches well over 90 tonight. The Cobalt offense was distributed throughout the line-up with big hits driving in runs in 3 different innings. Pat O'Brien, Richie Ayala, Zack Schmidt, Brando Beyerlein, and Todd Taylor all knocked in runs. We wish The Force and their coach, tournament Cobalt Scott McVey, best of luck as they will represent Cincinnati in the NABF College World Series in Toledo. Next up for 19-3 Cobalts: BLUE NOTE STOGIES, PART II. Bring the Natch's and your 'Balt Fan Gear to Roselawn Park Friday night 6:30 (uniform: gray pants, navy jersey, gold sleeves, gold hat)image

Cobalts UGLY in 15-14 Loss to Cincinnati Astros

Posted by Mark Dietz at Jun 25, 2006 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Giving up 9 UN-EARNED runs in the first 4 innings Sunday doomed the Cobalts to their 3rd loss of the season. Stiggy took the hill and pitched well for 7 innings but the patch-work defense (Vic in left and Coach on 1B...enough said) couldn't help from giving the Astros 4-5 outs an inning. A semi-valiant offensive come-back fell one hit short of a victory but that's what you get when you have 15 of your 25 man roster missing. Back at it this week with tough games coming: Weds: 6:30pm at Ryle High School vs. White Sox Thurs: 6:30pm at Roselawn #2 vs. Cincinnati Force Fri: 6:30pm at Roselawn #1 vs. Blue Note Stogiesimage
Paul Krause threw his second lifetime Cobalt No-No Friday night versus the Devil Dogs. Paully faced a total of 22 batters in the victory with the lone runner reaching on an error. Big Paul was virtually untouchable with some of the old zip and the patented slider coming from the 3rd base line. Jess Bechard once again led the offense with 2 RBI. One from a Solo Blast over the high right field wall...in a hurry. The 3rd run came on a Frank Arnold single scoring Mike Taylor. Cobalts improve to 17-2 and face a tough Astro Team on Sunday (wear Old Gold jersey, white pants, navy hat and sleeves)image
Glen "Deuce" Hock delivered when needed with a 2 RBI single in the 3rd inning Wednesday night versus the Cubs. Shannon Morgan made those 2 stand-up as he pitches another complete game gem allowing just 4 Cubs hits. The game might have ended in under 60 minutes had the Cubs pitcher been able to break the speed limit with his pitches but gravity has a way of playing funny games with moon-balls. Just thankful Stiggy took the night off! Didn't matter. Cobalts win their 16th of the year.image
