The Sydney Sooners pleased a large hometown crowd on Friday night with a 4-2 victory over the Halifax Pelham Canadians. The Friday night home opening game featured a complete game from Justin Brewer who only allowed four hits. The Sooners found their bats late in the eighth inning with three runs that proved to be too much for the Halifax squad.

On Saturday morning at the Susan Maceachern Ballpark in the first game of the double header between the Sooners and Canadians, the Sooners found their offense early in the first and never looked back as they pounded the Canadians 13-3 after seven innings of play.

The Sydney team couldn't pull off a series win in the third game on Saturday afternoon as the Halifax Pelham Canadians took a 2-1 victory with the winning run for the Canadians coming in the top of the ninth inning. The Halifax Pelham Canadians will return home to face the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry on Tuesday night. The Sydney Sooners take to the road to play the Truro Bearcats in a 3 game series that starts Friday Night.

The Kentville Wildcats opened their NSSBL season on the road with a win against the Truro Bearcats. The Bearcats were up 4-3 until the top of the sixth when Kentville drove in two runs. The game was tight with Kentville only leading by one going into the ninth inning until their offence found their grove and drove in 6 runs at the top of the ninth. Truro unable to match the offence by the Wildcats, the end resulted in the Bearcats falling short 11-7. Kentvilles game on Wednesday with the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry was cancelled due to weather and has yet to be re-scheduled. The Bearcats are back to the diamond this weekend for a three game series with the road squad, the Sydney Sooners. Game 1 is scheduled for 8:00pm Friday night at TAAC Grounds.
