Sooners Finish Round Robin 2 -2

Sydney and Ontario hooked up in a pitchers duel, with Ontario coming out on the winning end with a close 2-1 victory. Sooners scored their loan run in the last inning and had the tieing run on base but couldn't get it across. Sooners now await the outcome of the Ontario vs Manitoba game at 2:30. ADT to see if their 2-2 record will advance them to the quarter final cross overs this evening at 7:00 ADT. Sydney needs an Ontario win over Manitoba to advance.

Sooners suffered their first loss of the Tournament when they fell behind early on three home runs by the third inning producing 9 runs, and a strong British Columbia team went on to a 10-2 win over the 2-1 Sooners. Sooners now have an important game last game of the round robin, on Saturday at 8:30 ADT against Ontario 2, which will decide their potential playoff opportunity. British Columbia sit at 2-0 with a game left against Newfoundland & Labrador and Manitoba.

Sydney Sooners won their seventh game in their last nine outings defeating Halifax Pelham Canadians 4 – 3 in eleven innings on Sunday at the Susan McEachern Memorial Ball Park in Sydney. Rob Birons bases loaded walk off single scored Chris Farrow from third with the walk off win. Earlier in the day Sooners won the first game of the two game set exploding for seven runs in the second inning, defeating Halifax 9 – 2.

Sooners leave for St. John’s Newfoundland on Wednesday to represent Nova Scotia at the Canadian Senior Baseball Championships, which run from Thursday through to Sunday.

Sydney and Halifax Postponed

Sydney and Halifax are postponed on Friday night, they will play a double header Saturday at noon in Sydney.
