The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry are the 2004 Canadian senior baseball champions. Dartmouth defeated the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets 10-4 tonight in the championship game at Kiwanis Park in Moncton. Player-coach Darren Doucette was a one-man wrecking crew in the final, with a 4-for-4 performance at the plate, including two home runs, a double, a single and seven RBI. Joel Irvine added a double, two singles and two RBI. It's Dartmouth second national title and sixth medal in 10 appearances at the Canadian championship. The Dry won gold in 1998, silver in 1996, 1999 and 2001, and bronze in 1997. Dartmouth defeated the Quebec Stars 7-2 this afternoon in the semifinals. Quebec took the bronze with a 6-4 victory over Fredericton, N.B. earlier in the day.

Dry to play for medal

The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry clinched a berth in the semifinals today and will play for a medal at the Canadian senior championship in Moncton on Sunday. Dartmouth beat the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets 7-5 in a morning game to secure first place in its pool. The Dry lost 8-7 to the St. John's Capitals of Newfoundland in what was, for Dartmouth, a meaningless game.
