Wildcats, Canadians in one-game playoff

Posted by Jody Jewers at Sep 4, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
The Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League’s regular season has come to a close, but all playoff positions have yet to be determined. The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry captured the pennant with a 28-7 record, and the Truro Bearcats are the runner-up at 19-16. The Kentville Wildcats (17-16) and Halifax Pelham Canadians (17-18) will play a one-game playoff Monday, Sept. 6, to determine third and fourth place. Kentville was to have played two interleague games against the Moncton Mets in Moncton, but the Mets are involved in their second-round New Brunswick senior league playoff series and will not be available. A coin flip was conducted by NSSBL chief operating officer Jim McEachern to determine the site for Monday’s playoff. Kentville won and will host Halifax at 7 p.m. at Memorial Park. Monday’s winner will finish third and face Truro in a best-of-seven semifinal series beginning Wednesday, Sept. 8 at the TAAC Grounds in Truro. The loser will wind up fourth and meet Dartmouth in the other best-of-seven semi, slated to begin Thursday, Sept. 9 at Beazley Field in Dartmouth. A full schedule for both semifinal series will be released Tuesday, Sept. 7.
