Dry get by Canadians

Darren Doucette's three-run homer helped the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry to a 6-4 victory over host Halifax Pelham Canadians tonight.

Craig Langille lasted eight innings on the mound to pick up the win. Trevor Zwaan came on in the ninth for the save. Joel Irvine added an RBI-double for the Dry. Mark Pelham paced Halifax with two singles.

Sooners complete sweep

The Sydney Sooners took both ends of a doubleheader this afternoon to complete a three-game weekend sweep of visiting Halifax Pelham Canadians at Susan McEachern Memorial Field.

In Game 1, Jason Snow surrendered just five hits and fanned seven, going the distance on the mound in a 4-1 triumph. Richie Walcott homered and singled, and Geoff MacLellan tripled, doubled and singled for Sydney.

In Game 2, Matt Denney allowed only four hits as the Sooners prevailed again by a 4-1 count. MacLellan doubled and singled for the winners. Shawn Peveril singled twice for Halifax.

When linescores for both games become available, they will be posted on this site.

Silver shines for Sooners

Thomas Silver tossed a complete-game three-hit shutout as the Sydney Sooners defeated the Halifax Pelham Canadians 3-0 tonight. Silver struck out five.

Troy Ferguson homered for the winners, and Dave Denney added a single and a double. Barrett Bellefontaine was the losing pitcher.

Dartmouth picks up first win

The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry posted their first victory of the season tonight, as Steve Nelson allowed three hits and struck out 12 over eight innings in a 4-3 decision over the Kentville Wildcats.

Former Montreal Expos farmhand Trevor Wamback made his first appearance for the Kentville Wildcats tonight, throwing five shutout innings as Kentville recorded a 7-0 victory over host Halifax Pelham Canadians at the Mainland Common.

At the TAAC Grounds in Truro, the Bearcats downed the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry 8-6 in a game called after five innings because of rain. Bill MacKenzie led the Truro bats with two singles and a double, and Joe MacPherson belted a two-run homer. Chris Goodie and Chris Head singled and doubled for Dartmouth.
