DRY'S JOEL IRVINE CLEVE'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK (TO SEPT. 3)
Veteran third baseman Joel Irvine of the Dartmouth Moosehead Dry has been selected as the Cleve’s Source for Sports Player of the Week in the NSSBL. Irvine, last year’s league MVP, led the Dry to two wins last week against the Truro Bearcats and the Kentville Wildcats. After stroking two singles against the Bearcats on Wed., he smashed a grand slam home run and a single on Thurs. against the Wildcats. The circuit blow moved him into the league lead with 35 runs batted in and into second place tie in home runs with 5. He also played strong defensively.
Others considered for the award were Irvine’s teammate Dan Comeau, Halifax’s Ryan Veinot, the Wildcats’ Curtis Falls, the Sooners’ Justin Brewer, and the Bearcats’ Guy Pellerine.
