The Truro Bearcats remained in the pennant chase with a 9-5 victory over the visiting Halifax Pelham Canadians tonight at the TAAC Grounds in Truro. Matt Black picked up the win in relief of starter Jason Smith, and J.P. Wood had a pair of hits for the Bearcats. Mark Haverstock took the loss.

The Sydney Sooners won their second straight game, downing the Kentville Wildcats 8-3 at Susan McEachern Memorial Field in Sydney. Justin Brewer earned the decision on the mound for the Sooners, scattering six hits.

Canadians bounce back to beat Dry

Steve Ivey threw a complete-game six-hitter with 14 strikeouts as the Halifax Pelham Canadians defeated host Dartmouth Moosehead Dry 6-4 on Pink Night at Beazley Field tonight. Both teams wore pink to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Halifax increases its lead atop the standings to 1.5 games over second-place Dartmouth.

Race for first place tightens

The Dartmouth Moosehead Dry defeated host Halifax Pelham Canadians 7-4 tonight at the Mainland Common to close the gap on first place. Dartmouth now trails Halifax by a half-game. The Canadians have seven games remaining to the Dry's six.

The teams meet again Thursday night in Dartmouth, and Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader in Halifax.,

Kentville clinches final playoff berth

The Kentville Wildcats wrapped up the fourth and final postseason spot with a doubleheader split against the Truro Bearcats today at Memorial Park in Kentville.

Truro won the opener 11-1 in eight innings, but Brad Steadman drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give Kentville an 8-7 victory in the nightcap.
