On Thursday evening, September 16, Forest Hills was hit by a freak Tornado. The Fleet Street Fields lay directly in its path. Fields 2, 3, and 4 were severely damaged. At least 40 trees were blown down, the backstop on field 2 was destroyed, a water line from our sprinkler system was cut as a result of a falling tree, the bleachers on field 2 were damaged, and the scoreboard on field 3 was blown down and much of fencing on fields 2 & 3 were damaged. An electrical control panel from one of the light poles on field 3 was blown off.  Numerous trees will need to be cut down as a safety measure.

We need your help!  The cost of the cleanup and repair will cost thousands of dollars.  You can help by coming to the FHYAA Dinner Dance and Benefit Auction on Saturday, October 30, 2010.  The event will take place at Bruno’s On The Boulevard  from 8pm until 1pm.  Cost is $65.00 per person which includes cocktail hour, open bar, buffet dinner and dancing to the music of DJ Stevie Z. Halloween costumes are encourage but not required. We are now accepting reservations.  Tickets will not be sold at the door. All adults are welcome.

To secure your spot, please send a check for $65 per person with your name and address to the FHYAA clubhouse at 66-01 Fleet Street, Forest Hills, New York, 11375, Attn: Larry Berkowitz.  Download and print your response card

  • The Forest Hills Youth Activities Association currently serves more than 1500 children in our community with Little League baseball (5-12 year olds), Pony leagues (12-17 year olds), Girls' Softball, Girls' Soccer, Coed Soccer and Basketball leagues. Most programs run at full capacity.  Baseball enrollment alone is up 20% this year.

More than $300,000 of improvements were put into the fields over the last five years. You will have the benefits of amenities that did not exist just a few years ago— a full service snack shack, vending machines, bathrooms, bleachers, paved walkways, scoreboards on fields 1 & 3, etc.  In order to allow the League to accommodate more children, we recently installed lights on fields 1, 2 & 3 allowing for night play, we're adding new fields and enlarging others.  Without donations and valuable fundraising efforts, these projects and youth programs could not succeed.

In order to raise funds, the Association is having our 3rd Annual Dinner Dance on Saturday evening October 30, 2010.  Your child’s coaches will be there.  Tickets are only $65 per person.  Many amazing items will be auctioned off and there will be raffles.  Prizes include: Apple iPad, Acer computer, gift certificates to local restaurants, Kodak cameras, designer glasses, a golf outing and much, much more.

The volunteers that run the Association have been working hard to make the fields better for your child.  Please make an effort to attend this important fundraising event.  Not only will it be tremendous fun, but the proceeds will benefit your child and others who will be part of the leagues for years to come.

We are accepting reservations for this event now. Space is limited to 300 people and reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. To secure your spot, please send a check for $65 per person with your name and address to the FHYAA clubhouse at 66-01 Fleet Street, Forest Hills, New York, 11375, Attn: Larry Berkowitz.   | Download and print your response card |
