Updated 9-2 @ 7:15 PM Welcome to another season of Raider Soccer. The 2006 season is upon us. We will attempt to update this site as quickly as possible. If any of you have any suggestions or information that you would like included, please let us know. ************************************************************ Please be advised that information posted on this site is for the Varsity Soccer Team. Information for other CCHS soccer teams is posted here with a note stating that it is for JV A or JV B. Schedules for the varsity usually are also for JV A since they play at the same schools usually on the same date but possible at a different site and a different time if it is a night game. It is preferable that parents look to the printed schedules that were passed out to members of all teams. Attempts will be made to place all information that is possible on this site and as quickly as possible.....Thanks image

Central Shuts Out Haverhill 6-0 Makes States

Posted by Ray Flaherty at Jan 31, 2001 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
Central had five different players score as they defeated Haverhill 6-0 in an MVC game played at Greater Lawrence Tech. Jeff Gannon had two goals and an assist as he continues on his hot streak. Steve Perry once again scored early, 1:37 of the first half, on a super pass from Joe Mead. Other first half goals were by Ross Tremblay and Jay Rourke as the Raiders took a 4-0 lead into the half. Assisting on those goals were Jay Rourke, and Tim Woitkun. Gannon also assisted on Ross Tremblay's goal. In the second half scoring continued early as the Raiders scored an early two to seal the victory as Jeff Gannon and Jon Kasper scored at the 5 minute and 6 minute mark assisted by Tim Woitkun and Rich Crowley. With this victory the Raiders clinched a berth in the State Tournament by virtue of their nine wins. This will be the third straight year that this feat has been accomplished. Their overall record is 9-2-1 and they are 7-1 in the MVC Large school division. Central next plays again on Tuesday versus small school leader Billerica in a game at GL Tech at 3:30. imageimage

WE WON! WE WON! WE WON! CENTRAL 2 LOWELL 0

Posted by Ray Flaherty at Dec 3, 2000 4:00PM PST ( 0 Comments )
For the second time this week the Raiders of Central Catholic came up huge.....they defeated Lowell at Lowell 2-0 and in the process won their first MVC Soccer Championship. We finally are gonna have a banner.... Central's defense was fantastic as they held the MVC's prolific scorer, Odilio Gianinni, to only one shot on net. Lowell was a worthy opponent as both teams played a great first half of soccer but neither team could break into the others defense. Central was able to find a crack at the 12 minute mark of the second half when Tim Woitkun took a throw in deep in Lowell territory and it found Joe Mead's head for a beautiful goal to put the lads up 1-0. At the 25 minute mark, Jeff Gannon took a run deep into the Lowell end and crossed it back to find Mike MacDonald at the back post ready to head it in for another great goal. With the Central boys up 2-0, Lowell pressed hard but could not seem to string together enough passes to find their leading scorer. The midfield and defense did a great job in shutting down the Lowell offense stifling it before it could get started. John McGinness played in goal for Central and registered the shutout. Central finishes its regular season with a 10 am game at St. John's Prep on Saturday. They are now 13-3-3 and finished with a 10-2-1 record in the MVC. Great corresponding story in the Lowell Sun, go to links page and click on the Lowell Sun.imageimage
