Raiders win in Lowell 3-1

Posted by Ray Flaherty at Sep 14, 2004 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Nate Bartlett's second goal really rocked the house as it propelled the Central Raides to two second half goals for a 3-1 victory over always tough Lowell. With the scored tied at 1 opening the second half Nate Bartlett took a nice cross from Mike Bakhtiari and literally pounded the goal with a great header that put them ahead to stay. Nate's folow through carried him into the goal and gave him a bloodied and swollen lip. Doug Larose capped the scoring by taking a Sean Bakhtiari pass and slotting it past teh goalie for a nice 3-1 victory. This was truly a team victory as all parts of the team were clickig well. The young Raiders have 4 frosh who play regularly and are supported by a talented group of sophs and juniors to go along with great senior leadership. Theri defense was solid and turned away every attempt by Lowell. Lowell's only goal was scored on a dead ball deflection that goalie John Bernat had no chance at stopping. The team is now 2-0 and will travel to Dracut on Tuesday for another huge MVC match. Central's Jv lost a hard fought battle to LOwell 1-0 as lowell was able to put one in with under 2 minutes left in the game.

At an award banquet January 27th, hosted by the parents, the 2001 Men's soccer team was recognized for their back to back championships. Each Senior received an embroidered Blanket, an embroidered sport shirt and a long sleeve shirt with a silkscreened logo celebrating their achievements. The high points of the night were Mike Gannon's play by play of the season highlight/lowlight video shown on the large screen as well as the presentation of "special" gifts to the graduating seniors from the captains and several juniors. Coach Flaherty was presented with an engraved watch and a blanket as well. Everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoyed the night. image
Jeff Gannon was chosen by the EMaSS Coaches Association to participate in the Division I North - South All-Star Game in Kingston Massachusetts on Friday, November 23 at Noon. This game is always held the day after Thanksgiving and features some of the best talent in Eastern Massachusetts. Jeff has always been such a great cheerleader for every other team at Central it would be nice if we could get some of his classmates to go and cheer him on as well at this prestigious event. If anyone wishes to go please call me and let me know you are going. I have left directions at the bottom of this notice so that you may find your way to Kingston. It is about an hour and a half away from CCHS. Any boys soccer team players that attend will be reimbursed by coach Flaherty for the cost of your ticket.
