16U Mike Antonio in Daily News: "Slick Fielding Shortstop"!
Mike Antonio, 16U shortstop for the New York Gothams, received a mention in a Daily News story covering his part in George Washington High School's victory over Lehman High School.
The Lions were unable to claw back against [George Washington pitcher Jose] Taveras, who threw strikes and let his fielders do their jobs. Slick-fielding shortstop Mike Anonio finished with six putouts.
Nice work, Mike!
16U Sammy Dominguez Profiled in Daily News!
Sammy Dominguez, who is a member of the 16U Gothams, was profiled in the Daily News, in an article that highlighted his hitting and relief skills as a member of Kennedy High School's baseball squad.
Another head-scratching question for Bronx baseball coaches: How do you get Sammy Dominguez out?
Pitchers feared the baby-faced Dominguez last season, when he hit .512 with a .565 on-base percentage and a 1.024 slugging percentage (total bases per at-bat) as a freshman. He also drilled five homers and drove in 18 runs in 15 games.
"He's one of the best hitters in the city as a sophomore," Monroe coach Mike Turo said. "He's a real dead fastball hitter and he gets his money's worth with every swing. He's ahead of the game already."
Congrats to Sammy and his family on his great year with Kennedy High School!
16U Sammy Dominguez Highlighted in Article on Kennedy High School
In an article profiling the Kennedy High School baseball squad, Sammy Dominguez, who also plays for the 16U NY Gothams, was highlighted as a key player for the team.
Sammy Dominguez takes over for senior leader and catcher Jose Ramos. Dominguez has big shoes to fill, but it shouldn't be a problem for the sophomore at the plate. He's one of the top young hitters in the city. He hit .512 with five homers and 18 RBI last season.
The article also mentions 16U Gothams player Dominique Parra as a "player to watch."
