Go Brewers!

Former NY Gothams player Angel Salome made his MLB debut with the Milwaukee Brewers two days ago. He came into a game versus the Mets and as a pinch hitter for pitcher Seth McClung and went 0-2.  In addition to announcing his first day in the big leagues, the article from MinorLeagueBaseball.com covering the event, included information on Angel's background:

Salome, who won the Southern League batting crown for the Milwaukee's minor league team The Stars, is a 5-foot-7, 190-pound dynamo who is all muscle with a cannon for an arm. Prior to his debut, Salome won the Southern League batting crown for minor-league team The Stars, hitting .360 with 13 home runs and 83 RBIs in just 98 games. In August, he hit .434 and has driven in 300 runs in 357 games as a pro. A fifth-round pick in 2004, he was born in the Dominican Republic but raised in the Washington Heights section of New York City.

Angel played as a catcher with the NY Gothams through 2004 until he was drafted by the Brewers. The NY Gothams send a heartfelt congratulations to Angel for all his accomplishments and are proud to list him as an alumni!

At the 1st Annual Richmond County Rumble,  which was held in June and was cut short by rain, Triple Crown Sports awared the 13U NY Gothams, the tournament's No. 1 seed, the 1st place trophy. The award marked the 13U NY Gothams 5th first place tournament finish during 2008. As well, the team went undefeated in WBA league play.

A very hearty congratulations to the 13U Gothams and Coach Gil Rodriguez for their incredible 2008 season.

The 16U NY Gothams were on a 4-0 roll and had the lead during their semi-final game when the 8th Annual ECTB National Championship Series was cut short by rain. When the points were tallied, NY Gothams were awarded 2nd place out of a 28-team pool!

Great job to all the 16U NY Gothams for capping off a fantastic season with a very positive finish!

The 16U NY Gothams swept through the competition at the Perfect Game NY State Championship July 25-28, beating back the Diamond Jacks (a team that placed 2nd in the WWB July tournament in Georgia) in the semi-finals and winning with a great team effort in the finals.
