All NY Gothams teams are staffed by professional coaches. The staff is trained and supervised by progam director Francisco Perez, who has been with the program since its inception in 2000. In addition to the NY Gothams, most of the staff are currently or have in the past coached high school and college teams, and provide private instruction in pitching, hitting and fielding. They are experienced players themselves and their resumes include playing in college, professional leagues, as well as the majors. The staff coaches teams during the summer and fall and also works with players during the indoor winter workouts. The NY Gothams staff uses a consistant approach, which is focused on constantly upping the skill levels of its players so that they can progress and have the confidence to achieve in a highly competetive environment.

The New York Gothams were founded in 1999 by Michael Orbison and Geoff Rich as a community-based youth baseball organization. In 2000, our inaugural season, the first team was comprised of twenty 13-14 year old players drawn primarily from the West Side Little League in Manhattan. During the past six years, the Gothams organization has grown exponentially and in 2009 will field five teams: 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U and 18U, providing competitive baseball for more than 80 players. From January to March, professional coaches and staff conduct practices in pitching, catching, fielding, hitting and conditioning. The summer and fall seasons extend from June to November with teams playing up to 60 games in regular and tournament competition.

2008 Highlights: The NY Gothams 13U-16U teams combined took home ten ECTB and Triple Crown championship trophies and placed second in six more tournaments. Additionally, the NY Gothams has a close association with several New York City high schools and New York City’s 2008 P.S.A.L. champs, George Washington High School, won with a team that included seven players who also play for the NY Gothams. During the P.S.A.L. playoffs, NY Gothams lefty pitcher Dominique Parra pitched two shut-out games for Gompers High School. The organization was also very proud to witness alumni and catcher Angel Salome make it to the big leagues when he was called up by the Milwaukee Brewers in fall 2008.

NY Gothams Winter Workouts/Tryouts for the 2009 season (13U, 14U, 15U, 16U and college) are now in session. You can find the schedule here. If you are interested in trying out for the NY Gothams, please contact Director of Baseball Operations, Francisco Perez: Email Contact

15U NY Gothams: In ECTB's 16U Columbus Day Bash, the NY Gothams team swept the competition in a 4-0 march to the finals, where they handily beat the Golds Gym Pirates 7-4. The team was led by Coach Felix Roche, who credited timely hitting, aggressive base running, stirling defense and rock solid pitching for the team's dominant outing.

14U NY Gothams: In the ECTB Hudson Valley Columbus Day Bash tournament that combined 15U and 16U teams, the 14U Gothams led by Coach Melvin Perez advanced to the semifinals, and in a fight to the finish were narrowly defeated by a 16U team to take home a third-place finish.

Job well done by the 14U and 15U Gothams! The organization is proud of both of your achievements!

14 NY Gothams: In their first fall tournament playing in the 15U age group, the NY Gothams took home the Triple Crown Back to School Fall Brawl championship . In the finals, new NY Gothams pitcher Yael Regalazo pitched a stirling seven innings and held the opposition to just one run, while outfielder Thomas Savage brought his bat and knocked in a critical RBI in a game whose final score was 2-1.

13U NY Gothams: In a combined 13U/14U Triple Crown Fall Festival tournament, the 13U Gothams lost in the finals to a 14U team. It was a homerun derby for the team with new lefty pitcher Reynaldo Hernandez blasting two homeruns, including a grand slam, catcher Nelson Rodriguez adding two of his own, with a fifth added by Ricky "Batata" Parra, who over the course of two days pitched seven scoreless innings.

The NY Gothams welcomes all its newest members and congratulates all players on their tournament successes.
