The final votes have been tallied for PSAL's Exceptional Seniors Game, and several NY Gothams players were recognized. Tyler Scrimma of School of the Future, Gabriel Faithful of Beacon; and Dominque Parra of Samuel Gompers are all NY Gothams alumni, who were chosen to represent their schools in the game. The game will take place on June 11 at Brooklyn's Keyspan Park at 4:00. The NY Gothams wishes Tyler, Gabriel and Dominique well in whatever endeavors they take on after high school and thanks them for their part in making the NY Gothams organization a great one.

NY Gothams 14U Red: Winners of the NJBL Memorial Day tournament championship. According to Coach Gil Rodriguez, hitting was contagious for the 14U Red team, which scored a total of 60 runs during tournament play and an additional 26 during the playoffs. Special kudos to Nelson Rodriguez, who blasted three out-of-the park hits, and pitcher Ricky Parra, who pitched a lights out, no-hitter in the finals!

NY Gothams 14U Blue: Placed second at the Scarsdale Baseball Classic. A total team effort, which included clutch hitting, solid pitching and defense, was responsible for the team's success, said Coach Carlos Beltre. In the championship game, the team fought tough until the end, fighting back from a deficit to tie the game, but lost in extra-inning play.

Congratulations to the talent-packed 14U age groups. The NY Gothams are proud of all your accomplishments!

In his first outing of the year for Fordham University, NY Gothams alumni Jake Rabinowitz struck out seven to lead the Rams to a 2-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts. According to the article:

"Rabinowitz's first start of the season proved to be one of his best outings of his career, as he threw into the ninth before being pulled after walking the lead-off man. In his eight innings of work, the senior gave up only one run on five hits, three walks while striking out seven."

Job well done, Jake!

NY Gothams alumni catcher Angel Salome and 14U Red catcher, Nelson Rodriguez, received mention in a recent USA Today article which profiled George Washington High School's baseball team. In the article, Coach Steve Mandl praises Angel Salome, who now plays for the Milwaukee Brewers minor league system, for returning in the off season to help coach George Washington players. Included in the list of players is NY Gothams 14U Red slugger Nelson Rodriguez, who as a freshman has seen time starting as a catcher for the team. According to the article:

"They come back all the time," Mandl said. "My assistants are usually former players. When Angel comes here to work out, the first thing he does is work with whomever our catcher is. He did it with Jean Carlos Rodriguez (now a minor leaguer in the Philadelphia Phillies system) and he did it this year with Nelson Rodriguez, who's starting as a freshman."

Rodriguez is also mentioned as being part of a strong infield:

"The Trojans' infield is particularly strong. Besides Alibay at first and Rodriguez at catcher, the team's top players include junior shortstop Mike Antonio, junior second baseman Xyruse Martinez and junior third baseman John Estrella."

Way to go Angel and Nelson! We couldn't be prouder of both of you!!
