After winning game one and a shaky second game on Saturday, the Red team rebounded to beat Latin Souls 20-4 in the rubber game of their semifinal match. The Reds will meet Glen Cove in a best of three match for the Championship next weekend. Congratulations. The Blues played a great quarterfinal game on Saturday, blanking the Bensonhurst Rams 6-0 behind the pitching of Elvis Jimenez. On Sunday, the Blue team came up short in the semifinal game against the Bronx Mets, losing 5-3 to end their season. Congratulations to our 15-16's on a successful year.

By winning against Glen Cove on Saturday night, the Red Team gained the No. 1 seed in the four-team Diamond Pros playoffs. We play Latin Souls best 2 out of 3 this weekend. The Blue Team only lost one game, but finished seeded second behind Coop City. In the eight-team Diamond Pro playoff format, we play a single elimination game against the Bensonhurst Rams on Saturday at 10am at Taft. If we win, we play the winner of the AAC Clippers vs. Bronx Mets game on Sunday. The championship rounds for both divisions will be the best 2 of 3 next weekend. GO GOTHAMS!

Weekend Games Cancelled

Posted by Lois Sakany at Sep 13, 2001 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Neither team will have league games this weekend. For those who would like, we will have a combined workout/scrimmage for both teams on Sunday at 10am at Taft, which is purely optional. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragedy. Baseball is not important right now, but it is a part of our way of life as New Yorkers and Americans, a way of life we must protect.
