White Team Is Runner-Up in Florida Tournament

The Gothams White 14U team performed exceptionally well in their second tournament of the year, going 3-1 in a separate Independence Day Tournament in Orlando, before falling a bit short in the championship game. The team should be very proud of its Silver Medal finish. Congratulations to everyone.

Blues qualify for ECTB World Series

With their Silver Medal finish at the wood-bat ETCB Doubleday Field of Dreams Tournament in Pennsylvania, our 16U team qualified for the World Series in August. The team played very well, going 4-0 against fine competition before falling 5-2 in a hotly disputed final. A special commendation goes to Raphael Gonzalez, who pitched a perfect game against the Delaware County Bandits in Game 1. Congratulations to Raphael and the rest of the team.

Gothams Add Team

The Gothams are starting the 2002 season by adding a second 13-14 team, which will also compete in the WBA. President Geoff Rich stated that building the program was one of the organization's main goals, and that he expected further growth in 2003 by adding a 17-18 team.

Our 15-16 Team is preparing to defend its 2001 Metropolitan AAU Championship. Manager Gilbert Rodriguez reports that the team is working hard and aiming for another trip to the AAU Junior Olympics.

New Gothams Board and President

On November 7, a new Board of Directors for the New York Gothams was installed and a new President was elected. The new Board members are Alan Friess, Ben Lopez, Ben Miller, Larry Momo, Michael Orbison and Geoff Rich. Having served the initial two year term as President, Michael Orbison resigned and Geoff Rich was elected to serve for the 2002-3 term. After a great start, the Gothams can look to the future with a strong management team in place.
