New York Gothams

Francisco Perez is taking a team of Gotham players to the Dominican Republic at the end of November to play several of the local teams. We hope that this trip expands on the relationships created when Francisco and Bret Kalikow made a goodwill trip to the D.R. this summer to deliver used baseball equipment that Bret had collected from students at Riverdale, Collegiate and Fieldston Schools. The effort was greatly appreciated by the local players, many of whom are forced by economic need to use makeshift equipment. Congratulations to Bret on his initiative and great success. Everyone in the Gothams organization should be proud of what Bret has accomplished. If anyone has used equipment to donate to the players in the Dominican Republic, please contact Francisco or Bret.

Our five teams have finished the regular season and are preparing for the playoffs this weekend. On August 15th, our 15's team will continue its successful season by participating in the ECTB World Series in Fall River, MA. Earlier this season, the 15's were Champions of the Big East Showdown sponsored by the Garden State Baseball Association in Colonia, NJ. They defeated the Colonia Yankees to win the Gold Medal. They were also the runner-up in the ECTB County Challenge Tournament in Scranton, PA. Congratulations to all and good luck at the World Series!

Our 13's team made the quarterfinals of the medal round, finishing 8th out of 22 teams in the National Championship. Congratulations to all the players and coaches on a great first season.

The Gothams 16U team, managed by Francisco Perez, won the AAU Division II National Championship last night, defeating the Michigan Indians by a score of 6-1. This championship is a remarkable achievement by the team and our organization. To win a tournament of this magnitude in only our fourth season is an accomplishment of which we can all be proud. Congratulations to the players, coaches and parents!
