Chili Peppers

Like always when we play the Crush, a close game to the end. After 2 innings it was 1 to 2 Crush. Then we scored 5 runs to put us up 6-2 with big hits from Taylor and Emy. Then the Crush battled back and going in to their last at bats they were down 7-5. First runner singled, next batter doubled but got thrown out when she over ran second base. Then Jessica, who had pitched a good game, walked 3 batters in a row. With tying run on third, winning run on second and only 1 out it did not look good. Then Jeesica struck out the next batter and then the next hitter hit a grounder to Katie over to Taryn, 3rd out, game over, we win 7-6. Good defense, good pitching, and timely hitting(two hits from Taylor) produced a win.

After a slow start we started heating are bats up and won 14-1. Once again it was some great defense, some good pitching, and hitting the ball hard that did the work. Taryn had some good glove work. Jessica started the pitching and gave up only 1 run. Marissa came in and struck out all three batters she faced. The hitting stars were many: Jessica, Emy, Haley, Taylor, and Kaycee all scored 2 runs. Jordan drove in 3 runs with a bases clearing double. 8 different girls got a base hit. Well done girls.

We won against a very good pitcher by jumping on her in the first inning and going on and winning 6 to 1. Jessica pitched another great game and our defense was outstanding. Kaycee, in leftfield, threw out a runner trying to go to third base that ended their scoring chance in the late innings. Taryn and Katie caught line drives in the last inning. Our offense was fueled by Emy and her two hits and 3 runs batted in. Others to get hits were Jessica, Maci, Elizabeth, and Jordan. A very good game from all the girls. Everyone was ready on defense and swinging a good bat.

Facing a tough lefty pitcher we put 3 runs on her in the first inning and then watched Jessica pitch a nice game and our defense was perfect. We won 6-1 with Jessica going all 5 innings. Emy had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs. But once again it was our defense that stood out. Kaycee threw a runner out from leftfield trying to go for 3rd base. Taryn and Katie caught line drives in the last inning and everyone was covering their bases and backing each other up. Great Job Girls.

We had a really nice time at this tournament. We finished in 3rd place with some excellent defense, good pitching, and two games where we hit the heck out of the ball. We won 19-3, lost 0-9, won 10-6, and then lost 0-4. Our bats were hot,cold,hot, and cold. We had a nice cookout in between games Saturday, Thank-you to the Vogels, Waters, and Johnsons. I hope everyone had fun and wants to do this again.
