Chili Peppers

With some strong pitching, good defense, and timely hitting we took home the first place trophy. The girls made everyone real proud by playing through lots of different controversy and winning some close games to be the champions of this tournament. Some strong pitching from Haley and Jessica, and Taryn, Marissa and Kayla. Some good offense(Cassidy scored 7 runs, KG drove in 7 runs, Jessica had 2 triples). Some good defense plays by Katie, Jessica, Haley, Maci, and one game saving catch in the outfield by Kayla. Congratulations girls on one super weekend

A 3rd place finish for a job well done over the weekend. Our pitchers did real well by giving up only 1 hit in 6 games. That one hit drove in one run that had us lose a pitchers dual(1 to 0 game)and the only loss in the tournament. We won 5 games and had one loss. Some nice hitting and good fielding when the other teams hit the ball. Thanks to the girls: 1st row--Marissa and Nikki; 2nd row--Jordan, Cassidy, Kayla, Haley, Kailey, Tara, and Elizabeth. Good Job.

We do not do well in the second game of a double header and it showed tonight. We gave the lightning no competetion in losing 0-12. They only got 2 hits against us because we walked 19 batters and used 5 different pitchers but nothing worked. Hitting was almost as bad. We got 1 base hit and after loading the bases in the first inning we did nothing else. Put this game in the back of the closet and forget all about it.

The all-stars pitcher improved a lot since the beginning of the year. She kept us scoreless and hitless for 3 innings. The all-stars took a 0-3 lead in the 3rd when after some bad ball/strike calls by the umpire, two diffent batters walked on pitches down the middle, a girl hit a triple and cleared the bases. Being down 0-3 going into the last inning looked tough. The other team decided to put in another pitcher and we decided to greet her with 4 runs to come back and when 4-3. Elizabeth started the inning with a walk, Taryn tripled to left field with a great hit. Jessica lined out hard to the second baseman who did not know she caught it. Katie drove in the second run with a single. Emy walked. Nikki drove in the tying run with a single. Then with runners on 1st and 2nd, Jordan ripped a ball down the 3rd base line for a game winning double. Jessica pitched the whole game and did real well despite the work of the umpire.
