Chili Peppers

In our second tournament on June 23-24th we took on some tough teams. Our first game was against the Hot Stix. Once again we fell behind and had to catch up. After taking the lead we had a bad inning and lost 13-16. The second game we took it out on Steller Realty by winning 14-2, scoring 7 runs in the only two innings we got to bat in. After an afternoon break we took on the BROC Angels and we took an early lead and then held on for a 16-13 victory. In the fourth game of the day we played our best game and beat the Falcons 19-0 only letting them have 5 girls on base. A 3-1 record gave us the 2 seed for the tournament. The first game was a forfeit 7-0 because the other team did not show. We then took on the 1 seed in the other pool, the Wild Bunch. Once again we gave up 7 runs in the first and had to fight back. We could not get enough runs and lost 7-15. This sent us into the 3rd place game where we had to play the Hot Stix once more. This time we jumped to a quick lead but then the Hot Stix came back to tye it 12-12 after 5 innings. We went to the international tie breaker and they scored 3 runs in their 1/2 inning. We had to score 3 to tie or 4 to win. We scored 3 runs and with one out and runners on 1st and 3rd Sydney came up and got a hit to score Morgan with the game winning run. Great job girls on another fun weekend against some tough teams.

In our first tournament of the year we did a great job and took home the gold. We did a great job hitting, fielding, and running the bases. We won 4 games and only lost one for the weekend. Our first game we started off slowly and were losing 3-7 after the 1st inning but then the next two innings we got hot and out scored the Hot Stix 14-0 to win 17-7. The second game of the day we took on a very good team, Red Hots, and once again started off slow by being down 2-14 after two innings. We tried to come back but could not score enough runs and lost 7-16. Our 3rd game of the day was against the Angels and this time we scored quick and then let the score get close when we gave up 7 runs in the last inning but won 17-13 without us having to bat in the bottom of the 4th. We took the 2 seed for tournament and drew the Angels for the next day. It turned into a defensive battle and the score was tied 5-5 after 3 innings. We got hot with the bats and scored 6 runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a good lead and then held on to a 11-9 victory. In the Championship game we got to play the only team to beat us, Red Hots. It did not look good as we got off to our slow start and got down 2-10 after 2 innings. Then we started our comeback and after 3 innings it was 8-13. In the top of the 4th we scored 7 runs and took a 15-13 lead. In the bottom of the 4th we gave up one run and with the bases loaded we got the 3rd out. Congratulations girls on a great tournament!!!!!
