Chili Peppers

We lost 2-6 and once again we are having a hard time hitting the ball. We only had two base hits(Jessica and Marissa) and the best hit of the night was from Kaycee but the shortstop made a Merry Christmas kind of catch. Good pitching from Jessica. It was tied 2-2 going into bottom of 3rd inning with only 10 minutes left till game time. I do believe the umpire knew if the other team scored he would get to go home and since they were not swinging the bats he would have to walk them. The strike zone went from real big to a 4 inch square and we ended up walking 5 straight girls before time was called. But it comes back to scoring more than 2 runs and getting only 2 hits.

Our game that was rained out has been rescheduled for Wednesday July 9th at 6:15 P.M. on field 10

The girls had their pictures taken an hour and a half before game time and I don't know if this effected their game play or not. Then having the umpire call balls and strikes from behind the pitcher did not help. We lost our first game 9-11 against a team we would beat any other day. Our pitching was not as good as it has been, we did not play defense very well, and we need to work on hitting the ball and not look for walks so much. We had two hits and walked 18 times but we also struck out 8 times, a lot of those were looking at the third strike. We will work on these things in practice.

Pictures will be June 5th at 6:30pm East of the batting cages of JCGAA. Then our game will be at 7:45pm. Bring your smiles!!!

Now we know what happens when we do not play our best. We still won 9-3 but it was not pretty. The other team did not help in giving us a chance to do anything. They walked us 15 times and we only managed 2 hits(Alyssa and Nikki). But 5 of the 6 outs they got on us were strikeouts. Just a lot of walks. Our pitching was decent, we only walked five and struck out 8 but was constantly working deep in counts. Defense fell asleep at times but came up big at the end of the game. Nikki stoped a line drive and almost doubled up the runner and then with 1 out the girl hit one to Emy at pitcher and she threw to Nikki at 1st base and when Nikki threw the ball back to Emy, the girl on 3rd took off for home and Emy threw to Haley L. and Haley put the tag on the runner. Game over. We play some tough teams coming up so we better start playing better.
