REINDEER STAMPEDE 5K SET FOR NINTH RUNNING

The ninth annual Milford High School Cross Country Boosters Reindeer Stampede 5K will be held Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 24 at the Milford High football stadium. Race time starts at 10:15 a.m.

Pre-registration costs $10. All participants get a long-sleeve Reindeer Stampede 5K T-shirt and a chance for a reindeer trophy.

Both the boys and girls put together solid packs to place in the top 10 of about 25 teams Wednesday at the Tidewater Classic in Salisbury. The girls, led by a 5th-place trophy by Liz Butterly, finished 4th overall, while the boys finished a very solid 8th.

Alex Butterly and Shayla Wilson each moved up on the Bloom Top 10 lists with their career-best times, while Sarah Holbruner, Emily Fisher and Rachel Murphy each ran their best times ever. Jessica Griffith, Emmery Williams and Taylor Probst added season-best times.

For the boys, seniors Erick Cisneros, George Kershaw and Travis White each ran season times to close out the scoring packs, while Robert Fisher, Kyle FitzPatrick, Michael and Devon Schlegel, Brandon Morris, Clarence Cartwright and Caleb Primos ran season times.

GIRLS MOVE TO 4-1; BOYS SEARCH FOR FIRST WIN

Liz Butterly, Abby Mitchell, Alex Butterly, Shayla Wilson, Jessica Griffith and Erin and Becky Clendaniel rounded out the varsity finishers as the girls knocked off Polytech, 20-39, and Seaford, 15-46, Wednesday at Polytech. Unfortunately, the boys -- led by Patrick Helmick who won the race -- fell to Seaford, 23-32, and Polytech, 26-29.

 Jordan Lane, George Kershaw (who added a season-best), Travis White, Erick Cisneros, Dom Cartwright and Robert Fisher rounded out the varsity finishers for the boys. Michael Schlegel and Kyle Berry added season-best times, while Johan Fraysse and Chris Makhtany added career-best times.

MILFORD MIDDLE SCHOOLERS OPEN WITH CC VICTORIES! 

The Milford Middle School cross country team had their first meet Wednesday against Chipman and Seaford. The boys team won both meets with an almost perfect score! Leading the way for the boys was team captain Kyle Breckner with a time of 13:25, followed by an impressive 2nd place finish by Jeremy Morgan, 3rd place finish by Frank Clendening, 4th place finish by Trevor Maloney, and 6th place finish by Kenny Barlow. Kyle Kolobielski also finished for the Buc boys.

 

The girls team recorded a win, beating Chipman and falling to Seaford. Finishing for Milford were Kyra Baynard, Amy Wilson, Lindsay Winckowski, Kristine Matthews, Brianne Kressy, Jessica Taylor, Kiana Freeman, and Lauren Wallace.

 

Great Job by the entire cross country team!

The MHSCC girls knocked off Dover, 19-36, and Sussex Tech, 16-44, Wednesday at home. The boys hung tough, but fell, 25-31, to Dover and 19-36 to Tech.

 Patrick Helmick led the boys, while Jordan Lane, Erick Cisneros, Travis White, Dom Cartwright, George Kershaw and Robert Fisher each ran season-best times to round out the varsity. Lane's 18:37 was the 5th fastest by an MHS sophomore in the past decade.

For the girls, Liz Butterly ran her fastest home course time of 21:05 to lead the way, while Abby Mitchell, Shayla Wilson, Alex Butterly, Becky Godwin, Jessica Griffith and Becky Clendaniel ran bests to solidy the varsity seven.

 Overall, Nathan Simpson, Doug Mullen, Marcos Mendiola-Cole, Nolan Katz, Sarah Holbruner, Kayla Boone, Rhonda Thomas and Emily Fisher added career-best times.

Liz Butterly (14th overall) and Patrick Helmick (13th) scored medals to lead the Bucs to great days at the 50th Lake Forest Invitational Saturday at Killens Pond State Park. In all, 30 MHSCCers earned their season-best times.

 Jordan Lane followed Helmick with a career-best 19:10, while Erick Cisneros, Travis White, George Kershaw, Dom Cartwright and Robert Fisher rounded out the top 7 boys. Meanwhile, Abby Mitchell speeded to a 21:36 to follow Butterly, while Alex Butterly busted out a career-best 23:03. Shayla Wilson, Becky Godwin, Jessica Griffith and Becky Clendaniel rounded out the MHS varsity girls' finishers.

Chris Pink, Joe Katz, Kayla Boone, Kira Robinson, Sarah Holbruner and Michelle Kramlich each added career-best performances for the Bucs.
