HELMICK, WILSON LEAD WAY AT BELLEVUE

Patrick Helmick and Shayla Wilson each ran career-best times to lead the Bucs at Bellevue State Park on Monday.

 Erick Cisneros broke into the 18s for the first time in his career and Kyle FitzPatrick also ran into the 19s for the first time to highlight the varsity finishers. Mike Whaley added a career-best, while Travis White added a season-best. Nate Simpson, Ian Dobie, Johan Fraysse, Chris Mahktany and Marcos Mendiola-Cole each added career times.

For the girls, Jessica Griffith and Sarah Holbruner each added career-best times.

BUCS BLAZE PAST SMYRNA, SUSSEX CENTRAL

The boys put nine runners under 20 minutes and Shayla Wilson led the girls with a career-best 22:24 as the MHSCC teams swept past Smyrna and Sussex Central Wednesday at Ron Powell Memorial Park.

 Patrick Helmick won the boys race with a stellar 17:47, while George Kershaw added a career-best 18:58. Mike Whaley, Jordan Showell and Cory Cates each broke into the 19s for career-best times, while Doug Mullen, Andrew Whitehead, Ian Dobie, Johan Fraysse, Chris Makhtany, Marcos Mendiola-Cole and Caleb Primos also added career-bests for the boys.

Freshmen Sarah Holbruner, Rachel Murphy, Michelle Kramlich and Emily Fisher each earned career-best for the girls, who improve to 6-1.

Patrick Helmick and Jordan Lane broke into the 18s, while Erick Cisneros, Dom Cartwright and George Kershaw rounded out the top 5 with their best times as the boys finished 9th of 23 teams Friday at the University of Delaware Invitational at White Clay Creek State Park.

Shayla Wilson and Alex Butterly went 1-2 as the girls finished 14th.

Mike Whaley ran a career-best time to reach the varsity, while Clarence Cartwright, Rachel Murphy and Emily Fisher added career times as well. Overall, 29 Bucs scored their best White Clay time.

BUCS BRAVE THE HILLS OF BRANDYWINE

Patrick Helmick and Alex Butterly led the way with the best Brandywine Creek times, helping the girls and boys to Top 10 finishes in their sections Saturday at the Salesianum Invitational. In all, 21 Bucs earned their best times at Brandywine.

For the girls, Shayla Wilson, Abby Mitchell, Becky Godwin, Sarah Holbruner, Rachel Murphy and Taylor Probst rounded out the varsity seven. For the boys, Jordan Lane, Travis White, Dom Cartwright, George Kershaw, Jordan Showell and Kyle FitzPatrick scored varsity finishes.

 Chris Makhtany also ran a career-best.
