 Doughty, a 3-year varsity vet, has made it a point to be a key member of the team’s stellar top four this season. His dedicated workouts and inspired racing has established in the presence of an elite group as his 17:43 at Bellevue placed him No. 17 on the MHSCC All-time Fastest 5K list.

 Cabrera has scored a spectacular rookie season so far, securing a spot in the girls’ stellar top 3 in each race this season. In her most recent week, Cabrera established a pair of lofty milestones by setting the freshman home course record (20:55) and then freshman school record (20:17).

Kelsey Cabrera set a new freshman school 5K record (20:17 -- No. 7 all-time) while Alexis Groce (20:07 -- No. 6 all-time) and Stef Clendaniel (21:21 -- No. 10 all-time) also moved up on the MHSCC Fastest 5K list as the girls finished 7th out of 33 teams Friday at the Joe O'Neill Invitational at Bellevue State Park.

Meanwhile, Steve Eshelman ran the 6th fastest MHSCC 5K time ever with a 17:06 and Mike Doughty added a 17:43 (No. 16 all-time) as the boys finished 11th of 35 teams.

Overall, Jeremy Harper, Jesse McCormick, James Hagen, Mike Dunn and Trevor Maloney broke into the 19s for career-best times, while Andrew Eshelman, Ryan Thomas, Rob Clendaniel, Jacob Blunt, Cory Morris, Chandler Benson-Reid and Blake Tuttle also added career-bests.

For the girls, Shai Sefiane, Kari Elzey (first time in the 23s!), Lydia Cole, Kristen Schulze, Jessica Downes, Morgan Fitzgerald-Lorah, Katie Zang, Amanda Cates, Madeleiny Corporan, Maria Valdez and Patricia Gonzales each scored bests!

Carl Richardson and Molly Bliss led the Bucs with solid times, while Taiwan Savage and Josh Johnson also ran well to round out the varsity finishers.

Also, a big congrats goes out to Homecoming Queen Sarah Holbruner who represented the cross country team with pride!

Molly Bliss led the way and Stef Clendaniel nearly reached the all-time fastest list with a career-best 21:59 as the girls improved to 6-0 with wins over CR and Smyrna in Wednesday's home finale. Meanwhile, Carl Richardson paced the boys who took a tough first loss to CR, 25-31; they handled Smyrna, though, to move to 6-1 for the season.

Steve Eshelman, Taiwan Savage, Mike Doughty and Josh Johnson added course-best times to round out the top five scorers, while Jeremy Harper and James Hagen closed out the varsity. For the girls, Kelsey Cabrera, Alexis Groce and Shai Sefiane rounded out the top five, while Amy Wilson and Lydia Cole -- who broke into the 23s for the first time -- closed out the varsity.

Jeremy Morgan, Ryan Thomas, Jacob Blunt, Chandler Benson-Reid, Cory Morris, Mike Hollingsworth, Kari Elzey, Tyesha Bowman, Shekinah Brown, Mia Fabres-Parker and Patricia Gonzales scored career-bests.
