News and Announcements

Carl Richardson set a new course record of 16:58 on a rainy, stormy day in Georgetown Wednesday as the boys topped Sussex Tech, 19-35, and Cape, 16-39, to wrap up a 10-1 regular season. Meanwhile, Molly Bliss led the way for the girls who upset Cape, 25-30, but lost a very close race to undefeated Sussex Tech, 25-30. Both teams also scored wins versus Delmarva Christian.

Taiwan Savage, Mike Doughty and Steve Eshleman put together a great top pack, while Josh Johnson, James Hagen and Jeremy Harper rounded out the varsity.

For the girls, Kelsey Cabrera, Alexis Groce and Stef Clendaniel finished among the top 10 in the race, while Shai Sefiane, Amy Wilson (career-best 22:50) and Lydia Cole rounded out a strong varsity. Taylor Hoey, Maria Medlarz and Morgan Fitzgerald-Lorah each ran in the 25s to set career times.

Savage, a 3-year varsity vet, has been a consistent force in the Top 3 for the season. After racing to his career-best 17:27 on Wednesday at Ingrams Pond to move up to No. 13 on the MHSCC All-time Fastest 5K list, Savage appears poised to add some worthy postseason honors in 2010.

Wilson has put together a strong rookie season and steadily has made a push to the influence the Top 5 scorers. A standby in the varsity for most of the season, Wilson busted through last week with a career-best 22:51 which was good enough to reach the Bloom Top 10 freshmen 5K list.
