Brandon Saad becomes first Western Pa Hockey player to win Stanley Cup
Pine Richland's Brandon Saad becomes first Western Pa Hockey player to win Stanley Cup with the Chicago Black Hawks win their six game triumph over the Boston Bruins. Saad played for Pine Richland for his freshman season and advanced to the Pennsylvania State Finals against LaSalle in 2008. Brother George Saad won the Pennsylvania Titles in 2006 AA and 2007 AA over HAverford High and went on to play at Penn State.
Brandon Saad moved on to the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL before joining the Hawks and winning the Stanley Cup in his rookie season and also being honored as a Calder Award finalist. Congrats to Brandon Saad !
Jay Caufield of North Penn HS in 1991 & 1992 (Pittsburgh Penguins) and Mike Richter of Germantown Academy in 1994 (New York Rangers) were the only Pennsylvanians with their names on the Stanley Cup.
