Minutemen Dominate Young South Windsor Squad

The Minutemen traveled to South Windsor on Tuesday night and walked away with a convincing 136-36 team score and won 30 matches and lost only 8. Winning four matches were Anthony Zovich and Ryan Butler. Three matches were won by Sean Pentalow (2 Pins), and David Balfore. Winning two matches each were Matthew Cotes, Erik Labieneic, Jeremy Eliades, Jacob Eliades (2 Pins), Ryan Bisson (1 Pin), Andrew Alessi and Mason Powers (1 Pin). Winning one match by pin were Brendan Butler and Jack Russo. The Minutemen are 4-1 on the season. Click on the title to go to the stats page for this match.

Berlin Tops Southington

Click on title to take you to the stats of this match. Great job! Berlin worked hard all night as they defeated Southington 76-61. Wrestling well and winning two matches on the evening were: Jack Russo, Ryan Butler, Tyler Cunningham, Ryan Bisson (including a 6-0 win over Doug Fontaine and Cameron Banks. Winning one match were: Matthew Cotes, Colin Cunningham, Brendan Butler, Sean Pentalow, Jacob Eliades, Kevin Moss and Billy Hastings. The Minutemen are now 4-1 on the season.

New London Kids Folkstyle Tournament

A small group attended the tournament at New London High School on Sunday, February 2nd. Placing first on the day was Matthew Cote. Matthew had three wins. Placing second were Brendan Butler, Colin and Tyler Cunningham. Placing third were Ryan Butler and Kevin Moss. The most exciting match of the day was with Tyler Cunningham who lost in his final match 7-6. Tyler was losing after the first period 6-0 and stormed back to almost win the match. image

Meriden Tournament

It was a long day in Meriden with over 500 wrestlers competing but the Berlin Minutemen did well. Bringing home a first place medal all with one pin were Derrick Durity, Matt Cote, Mason Powers, and Brendan Butler. First place winners also included: Jeremy Eliades, Ryan Butler and Jacob Eliades. Second place finishers were: Jack Banks and Anthony Zovich. Third place finishers were: Kevin Moss, Sean Pentalow, Colin & Tyler Cunningham and Cameron Banks. The Minutemen finish their regular season on Friday, March 7 home against Coventry at 6 PM. On Sunday, March 9th the tournament participants will enter the CT Kids State Championships in Milford CT.

Kids Folkstyle Qualifing Tournament at Danbury Police Activities League (PAL Building) 35 Hayes Town Road Danbury, CT 06811 Sunday, February 23, 2003 Pre-registration Information Contact person- Mark Cammisa or Nancy Cammisa Email mcammisa@impressionspaper.com Home (203) 790-9209 This Qualifier is required by all Wrestlers West of Interstate I 91 , to compete at the USA States at the Middle School or Novice Divisions on March 9, 2003. Wrestlers East of I91 MUST qualify at the Meriden Tournament on the very same day (Feb. 23). Weight Classes that have up to 12 Wrestlers will advance the top 4 Wrestlers to the State Championships. Weight Classes that have 13 or more Wrestlers will advance 8. The First and Second Place winners from this qualifier have a Bye in the State Championships if that Bracket is a twelve-man bracket. Coaches must have Copper certification at a minimum to coach on the mat at the State Championships Full mats will be used Age Groups- Category Year of Birth Weigh in Time Start Time Period Length Paperwork Color Novice 1991-1992 11:00 to 12:00 12:30 PM 1-1.5-1.5 Green Middle School 1988-1990 & in the 7th or 8th grade 8:00 to 9:00 9:30 AM 1.5-1.5-1.5 White Wrestle Backs will be 1-1-1 for both Divisions Seeding will be completed through a blind draw and wrestlers from the same club will be positioned on the opposite side of the bracket. Registration- Ø ¯ Pre-registration- o o Only Sanctioned USA Clubs West of I 91 may submit tournament registrations for this tournament. § ¤ Wrestlers who are not attached to a sanctioned club are requested to contact the nearest sanctioned club to register with or the Tournament Director. § ¤ NO Out-of-state wrestlers o o Only the 'standardized' registration file will be accepted Registrations must be sent to Mark or Nancy by E-mail via the Excel file no later than 7 PM the Wed February 19. There is no guideline on how early they may be sent. o o The Tournament Director will reply to your email confirming receipt of your registration. If you do not hear back from him it is your responsibility to contact them. o o All registrations must be accompanied with a valid USA Wrestling card number for each listed wrestler. o o Pre-registered wrestlers who do not show up for the tournament will be charged the full registration fee. FROM 84 West Exit 5 straight through stop sign and down to bottom of ramp after traffic light go straight onto NORTH Street, go to fourth light Take a right onto Hayes Town Ave. ( Shell Station on Right), Take Hayes Town Ave. to end of road take left onto East Hayes Town Road. Go to Stop sign about one mile and turn right onto Hayes Town Road , PAL building is on the Right across from Candlewood Lake Entrance.
