Somers High School 9th District Rd Sunday, January 25, 2004 14 wrestler's traveled to Somers for a recent tournament and here are the place finishers: Mightly Mites: Andrew Zovich - 1st Bantam: Jeremy Eliades - 3rd (3 pins) Midgets: Anthony Zovich - 1st Nick Mangiafico - 3rd Sean Pentalow - 1st Anthony Scacca - DNP Jacob Eliades - 1st (3 pins) Tim Norton - 2nd Novice: Sam Vreeland - 1st tournament ever - DNP Ryan Bisson - 2nd Mason Powers - 1st Middle S: Kevin Moss - DNP Sheri Sylvia - DNP

Berlin Takes On Coventry In The Cold

Even though is was below zero outside the Minutemen turned up the heat on Coventry as they defeated them 25-12. Click on the title to see all the results from this match. There were a few no-shows from Coventry as the team was slow to arrive, but once they did the Minutemen kept the heat up as they worked hard on the mat. Winning two matches by pin were; Anthony Zovich, Nathan Giaccone, Ricky Mullins, Nick Mangiafico and Matt Cote (who also won a Major Decision). Also winning two matches on the night were; Jeremy Eliades and Sam Vreeland. Wrestling well and winning a match were; Richie Schlichting 11-3, Colin Cunningham, Todd Koops, Kyle Zuk, Jacob Eliades, Ryan Butler. Tyler Cunningham, Ryan Bisson, Tim Norton and Sheri Sylvia. Working hard but coming up on the short end of the score were; Andrew Zovich, Erik Labieniec, Sean Sullivan, Devon Reilly, Brendan Butler and Derrick Durity. In the other match with Bristol, the Minutemen won 24-12. Winning for Berlin were; Anthony Zovich, Brendan Butler, Ryan Bisson, Kevin Moss and Tyler Feger.

Berlin Tops Newington In First Match Of Year

The Berlin Minutemen opened their dual meet season with a win in Newington 36-28. Leading the way for the Minutemen with three wins was Brandon Solek who had two pins and a 6-1 victory. The following had two wins: Anthony Zovich, Colin Cunningham (2 pins), Sam Vreeland, Jack Russo, Ryan Butler (2 pins), Ryan Bisson (2 pins), Tim Norton, Kevin Moss, Mason Powers, Ryan DeGroff, Cameron Banks, and Jonathan Fiorillo (2 pins). Winning one match on the night were: Nathan Giaccone (pin), Sean Sullivan, Ricky Mullins (pin), Sean Pentalow (pin), Jacob Eliades, Brendan Butler, Ryan Vujs (pin), Sheri Sylvia (pin) and Tyler Feger. It was a great first effort by everyone. Those didn't win but did very well were: Andrew Mals, Erik Labieniec, Matt Cote, Mathew Bogden, Todd Koops, Nick Mangiafico, Devon Reilly, Kyle Zuk, Danny Hackett, Jack Banks, Chris Solek, Derrick Durity and Matt DelConte. Griswold Kids Wrestling Tournament Results

It was snowing pretty hard by mid-day but that didn't stop the Minutemen from heating up the gym at Griswald High on Sunday. The eleven tournament wrestler's fared well. Wrestling in his first tournament, Nicholas Mangiafico placed 3rd winning two matches on the day. Mighty Mite, Andrew Zovich placed second. Bantams: Colin Cunningham (4 Wins) 2nd, Jeremy Eliades 3rd, and Brendan Butler (3 wins) 1st. Midgets: Anthony Zovich (4 pins) 1st, Jacob Eliades 1st, Ryan Butler 1st, Tyler Cunningham 2nd. Novice: Mason Powers, came down hard on his elbow in his first match and with a tender arm finished the day in 2nd place. Mason has four matches after the injury but wrestled tough through them all, losing a close match 7-4 to place 2nd. Middle School: Sheri Sylvia wrestling in a tough bracket with some very experienced wrestler's worked hard in her four matches but did not place. image

“Colchester Wildcat Challenge” Results

Bacon Academy High School Sunday, January 11, 2004 Most of the Minutemen traveled to Bacon Academy for their latest Tournament action. It was a good day as the following wrestler's finished first: Jeremy Eliades, Brendan Butler, Sean Pentalow, Jacob Eliades, Ryan Butler and Ryan Vujs. Placing second were Andrew Zovich, Anthony Zovich, Ryan Bisson, Brandon Solek, Jack Banks, Ryan DeGroff, Matt DelConte and Cameron Banks. In Third Place was Ricky Mullins and Kevin Moss. Mason Powers was the lone Minuteman to travel to Killingly where he placed first with four pins on the day.
