Coventry Tournament Results

The Minutemen did well at the Coventry Invitational Tournament bringing home a 3rd place team trophy. Individual place finishers were as follows: 1st Place: Todd Koops, Anthony Zovich, Nathan Giaccone, Ricky Mullins, Jacob Eliades and Tyler Cunningham. 2nd Place: Andrew Zovich, Jeremy Eliades, Anthony Scacca and Mason Powers. Those who worked hard but did not place were: Colin Cunningham, Sheri Sylvia and Nicholas Mangiafico.
Copper Certification Clinic Scheduled for Meriden Friday March 12th at 6:30 pm On Friday March 12th USA Wrestling CT will be hosting a copper level certification clinic from 6:30 to 9:30 at Thomas Edison Middle School in Meriden CT. Registration will begin at 6pm. The cost of the clinic is $25, USA Wrestling card required. USA Wrestling’s National Coaches Education Program is a four tiered certification system for coaches in the sport of wrestling. As the National Governing Body for the sport of wrestling in the United States, USA Wrestling actively works to promote and develop the sport of wrestling through the NCEP. The Copper Certification, the first of the four levels, is an enjoyable introduction to the sport of wrestling. The course is highly interactive using the USA Wrestling Instructor’s video and the second edition of Coaching Youth Wrestling published through the American Sport Education Program. Coaches and parents that complete the four hour course and receive an 80% or higher on the thirty question take-home multiple choice test are certified at the Copper Level. Coaches will then be entered into the USA Wrestling NCEP database and receive a certificate of completion and a Copper Card used to authenticate certification at USA Wrestling events. Join USA Wrestling in building the sport of wrestling in the United States by attending a NCEP course near you! Well we got home Sunday night at 11:15pm from a long day at the tournament. Sheri Sylvia and Jack Rudy did not place on the day but Kevin Moss was able to bring home a 4th place finish. He lost to the same wrestler twice on the day in his first match and then in his final match for third. As a team we placed 16th out of 53 teams due to the fine showing by the members of the Newington Blackhawks who placed as follows: 141 lb. Michael Valentine def. New London Tournament Results

The Berlin Minutemen attended a tournament at New London High School and here are the results. Mighty Mites: Andrew Zovich 2nd place Bantams: 1st Place Colin Cunningham and Brendan Butler, 2nd Place Matthew Cote Midgets: 1st Place Tyler Cunningham, 2nd Place Sean Pentalow, Ryan Butler, 3rd Place Anthony Scacca Novice: Mason Powers 2nd place Middle School: Kevin Moss 1st Place Wrestling tough on the day but not placing were Anthony Zovich and Nathan Giaccone.

Bristol Match Friday - Update
