Minutemen Youth Wrestling

NEW - Everyone who is going on the trip must meet at BHS this Thursday, June 1st at 4pm so they can get their visas done. If you can not attend you will be required to FedEx your material. Luciana, from the travel agency wants us to have the following: 1. Passports 2. An extra passport photo for the visa 3. Original birth certificate and a copy ( if you don't have an orginal the copy must be Notarized) this is only for those travelling under the age of 18. 4. Minors also need a letter granting permission to travel signed by both parents and it must be notarized. 5. Final payment- I will have the amount each travel needs to pay at tomorrows meeting. Sorry for the quick timeline, it is the nature of these trips. At the meeting on Monday, May 15th at 7:00 PM in the Media Center at BHS. Coach Day explained that the following will be needed at the next meeting or sooner. Wrestlers $2,250.00 and adults $2,150 to Intersport and $141.50 for Porto Algre fees. Hotel Costs 2 persons per room $39.00 x 3 nights @ $58.50 pp. and 3 persons per room 3 nights @ $46.00 pp. At this meeting with Intersport you will need to bring two additional passport pictures (write wrestler's name on back). Tag sale May 20, Raised $700.00 Rockcats game Last Game was June 4th. It was a double header and we should have made a few bucks. Mohegan Sun Casino Trip on June 2nd had 21 people on the bus. It was a great time and we made $100.00. Might get a few checks coming in late. Donation Letters Out: Letters were sent to 65 businesses. I have already received a $500 donation from an individual. It was a long but very good day for the Berlin Minutemen in New Haven as the team crowned five champions. Champions by division: Bantam Division: Nicholas Zuk, Midget Division: Jeremy Eliades, Colin Cunningham and Brendan Butler, Novice Division: Tyler Cunnigham. 2nd Place Finishers: Novice: Ryan Butler, Middle School: Ryan Bisson 3rd Place finishers: Midget: Riley Grieder and Todd Koops, Middle School: Chad Keyworth 4th Place finishers: Midget: Matt Cote, Novice: Sean Pentalow, Middle School: Robert Sarmuk

While the older wrestlers were in Bristol qualifying for next week's State Championship, the younger wrestler's were working on preparing for their State Championship while wrestling in Meriden.

In the Bantam Division: Michael Patterson placed 1st, Nicholas Zuk 2nd, and Michael Rubino 4th.

In the Midget Division: Colin Cunningham and Brendan Butler 1st, Sean Sullivan and Devon Reilly 2nd, Riley Greider and Matthew Cote 3rd place.

It was a good day for the Novice and Middle School wrestlers for the Berlin Minutemen. This qualifer held in Bristol on February 19th had high hopes to move all 13 participants who finished in the top four places to the State Championships in New Haven.

In the Novice Division: 60 pound division Ethan Greider 4th place, 1st place finish by Tyler Cunningham 85 pound weight class, what turned out to be a Berlin sweep in the 75 pound division four Minuteman advanced with Sean Pentalow placing 1st, Jacob Eliades 2nd, Ricky Mullins 3rd and Nick Mangiafico 4th. Ryan Butler 2nd place in the 95 pound division.

In the Middle School Division: Mason Powers and Rob Surmak placed 1st, Danny Hackett and Chad Keyworth 2nd, Matt Dygus 3rd  and Carla Magiafico 4th.

We will only practice tonight - no match Vs Southington.
