Minutemen Youth Wrestling

The Berlin Minutemen hosted their annual winter tournament on Sunday, January 9^th which drew 457 wrestlers from 28 different clubs throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.  The Minutemen finished second as a team in the morning and afternoon session.  Individual results for the home team are:  First Place: Nicholas Koops Mighty Mite, Trevor Graham Bantam, John Gorneault Intermediate, Daniel Veleas Intermediate, Niko Fusco Novice, Ronald Watson Middle School, Joseph Inturri Middle School,     Second Place: Isaac Cortes Bantam, Joshua Veleas Novice, Jared Zima Middle School, Third Place: Matthew Koops Mighty Mite,  Timothy Mrachek Mighty Mite, Marcus Kelly-Johnson Mighty Mite, Lexi Eliades Bantam, Jenna Peck Bantam, Riley Hanson Intermediate, Luke Mangiafico Intermediate, Matthew Peck Intermediate, Vincenzo DeFrancesco Intermediate, Elijah Watson Novice, Matthew Wojciechowski Novice, Ryan Kolodziej Novice, Calvin Johnson Jr Novice, Sean Sullivan Middle School, Vincent Biscoglio Middle School, Fourth Place: Cayden Hill Mighty Mite, Ryan Mrachek Mighty Mite, Caleb Orde Mighty Mite, Grady King Mighty Mite, Braden Shea Bantam, Sadie Boyer Bantam, Tanner Sparks Bantam, Rory Mayer Bantam, William Watson Bantam, Sean Nogiec Intermediate, Christian Fischer Intermediate, Nathan Orde Intermediate, Zachary Koops Intermediate, Casey Fischer Intermediate, Logan Galvan Intermediate, Lorenzo Buccheri Intermediate, Graeden Boyer Intermediate, Serge Duquette Intermediate, Andrew Martin Novice, John Ezzo Novice Anthony Buccheri Novice, Sahnserae Brownlee Novice, Dylan Daniels Novice, Tyler Cohen Novice, Michael Daniels Middle School, Connor Ruszczyk Middle School, Laura Cohen Middle School, Fifth Place: Kevin Daley Mighty Mite.  For many of these young wrestlers it was their first match in the large gymnasium.  Coach Moss said, “I was very happy with the way our young wrestlers are coming along.  The tournament ran well and everyone was very happy.”  Moss added, “A special thanks to all our volunteers who helped make the day a great success for our club.”

Somers High School5 Vision Boulevard, Somers, CTSunday, January 23, 2011 All wrestlers will be grouped by both age category and weight into 4-man brackets. Each wrestler will wrestle one-another giving each wrestler a total of 3 matches (round-robin format). There are many advantages to doing this. Medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3^rd place wrestlers.

Notice:Head gear Will be required for all age groups this is a USA Wrestling rule. ALL WRESTLERS WITH BRACES ON THEIR TEETH MUST HAVE PROTECTIVEMOUTH GUARDS

Registration- with Coach Moss by Thursday, January 20th

Registration Fee’s  $16/wrestler with a $27 family cap.
Spectator admission $3.00 admission fee / Free age 12 and under

The Code of Conduct Rules will be strictly enforced.Coaches and Spectators Conduct--- This code of conduct has been established to ensure that there is a defined method for the handling of unacceptable conduct by coaches at USAWCT sanctioned wrestling events. The responsibility of the assigned officials and the USAWCT Board of Directors is described in the document posted on the website (www.usawct.org) 

Directions- Somers High SchoolDirections from Route 91:Take Exit 47E, Somers/Stafford Springs, Route 190 East.Proceed on Route 190 East approximately 7 miles. Passing the Somers Funeral Home on the Right, you will approach a four way intersection with a stoplight. Take a Right at this intersection - Ninth District RdThe school campus will be the first left. Somers High School is located at the end of the school road.Note: Park in Designated parking spaces only. The parking is strictly enforced by the State Police. All cars not parking in legal parking spaces will be towed. We  would hate for that to happen to anyone.** Full Concession stand with Pasta Station available all day.

1. Register no later than the end of practice Wednesday night. You may register as early as you like.
2. Fill out tournament form with ALL information completed.
3. Pay for tournament when handing in form by check or money order. Fee is $20 first child $14 for second, and $8 for all additional children.  Registrations are to be given to Ed or Danielle Eberhimi.
4. Call Coach Mangiafico at 860-816-2882 or Coach Fred at 860-302-3118 if you can’t attend for any reason or are running late.
