Oxford/Derby Beginners Tournament Results 2012
On Sunday January 22, 2012 four Minutemen travelled to Oxford High School. It was a good day for the young Minutemen with Connor Gileau placing 2nd in the Intermediate Division and Vinny DeFrancesco placing 3rd. Mighty Mite Michael Litke placed 3rd and Bantam Gabriel Nazario took 4th.
2011 Bristol Holiday Tournament Results
On Sunday, December 28th twelve Minutemen traveled to Bristol Eastern High School to compete in the Bristol Holiday Tournament. It was a good day as ten of the twelve placed.
In the Mighty Mite Division Cayden Hill won his first medal ever and it was a good one winning four matches to take home first place. Isaac Cortes and Braden Shea, two Bantam wrestlers both finished second. In the Intermediate Division Riley Hanson lost his first match 4-3 then pinned his next two oppenents to place second while Zachary Koops and Luke Mangiafico both finished third. Elijah Watson placed third in the Novice Division while in the Middle School Division Seth Pelletier and Ronnie Watson took first place, Niko Fusco placed third and Kevon Bradley and Dajion Hill both finished fourth on the day.
The Minutemen will compete again in tournaments at their own Berlin Blast at Berlin High School on Sunday, January 8th. It is anticipated over 400 wrestlers will compete in the tournament on that day. Adimission is $3.00 and wrestling starts at 9:30 AM.
The 2011 New Milford Kickoff Classic Results
On Sunday, December 11, 2011 two Minutemen travelled to New Milford High School for the first tournament of the year. Braeden Shea competing in the Bantam Division placed second dropping his final match 5-2. In the Intermediate Division Zachary Koops pinned his first opponent from Danbury and ended up placing 4th in his bracket. Coach Moss said, "Both boys wrestled well considering we just started two weeks ago. Zachary was in a tough division and wrestled well never giving up."
The next Tournament will take place at Bristol Eastern on Sunday, December 18th.
The Berlin Wrestling Club Board has voted to lease space at 20 Tuttle Place in Middletown (just 12 minutes from Berlin High) easy to get to from 372 or Route 9. We need folks to register soon so we know if we need to change the times. We will be moving our start time back by 15 minutes so the new times will be: 5:45 - 6:45 pm, 6:50 - 7:50 PM on Monday and Wednesday at 5:45 - 6:45 pm and 6:50 - 8:05 pm on Tuesday and Thursday.
We will be needing help moving equipment in and cleaning up the space so we are ready to go on Monday, November 28th. Time and days will be posted at this site so come back and visit.
