Shelbyville Lady Golden Bears Basketball

The Girls’ Basketball Team defeated Southwestern on Friday Night 54-49. The Bears started fast with a 20 point first quarter and backed that up with a 17 point second quarter to build a 37-20 halftime lead. The Bears were outscored 12-11 in the third quarter and fought off a scrappy comeback attempt from the Spartans to come away victorious on Friday night. Kylee Edwards led the way in scoring, netting 18 points while Jaidyn Tackett added 13 points. Madison Phares had 9 and Megan Eads, Cheyenne Eads, Ava Wilson, and Madison Bassett all added 3 points apiece. Abby Brenner rounded out the scoring for the Golden Bears with 2 points. The Bears are 1-2 on the year. The JV Team defeated Southwestern on Friday as well. This moved them to 1-2 on the year.

The JV/Varsity Girls Basketball Game scheduled for 11/27/20 @ Pendleton Heights has been moved to 12/23/20. The JV will start at 6 pm with the varsity to follow.

Kylee Edwards was named IBCA Player of the Week Top Nominee for her last week performances vs. Waldron and Bloomington North. Kylee recorded 20 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assist, 3 steals, and 3 blocks vs. Waldron. She backed that performance up with 20 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block vs. Bloomington North. The IBCA Player of the Week is sponsored by Franciscan Health.

The Girls Basketball Team updated its schedule adding Jennings County on November 21, 2020 at Jennings County with JV starting at 6 pm and varsity to follow.
