The Lady Golden Bears welcomed HHC foe Greenfield-Central on Tuesday Night. The varsity was defeated after a great effort in the second half. Kaylee Edwards led the way with 25 points (23 in second half), while Junior power forward Madison Phares had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Senior guard Megan Eads connected on two 3’s to add 6 points and Jaidyn Tackett had 5 points. The varsity’s record is now 4-5 on the year. The JV team defeated Greenfield-Central to move its record tShelbyville JV/V vs. Greenfield-Centralo 4-5 as well. Both teams will host state ranked Franklin Community on Saturday starting at 1 pm. New Palestine Defeats Lady Golden Bears

The Lady Golden Bears Run Their Record To (3-4 Overall & 0-1 In HHC Play) After Being Defeated By New Palestine 48-41 Tuesday Night. The Bears Was Led In Scoring By: Ava Wilson 11, Kylee Edwards, & Jaidyn Tackett 9 Apiece, Madison Phares 6, Madison Bassett 4, & Abby Brenner 2. New Palestine Was Led In Scoring By: Isabella Gizzi 13, Addi Jones 12, Grace Marshall 11, & Anna Ackerman 10.

The Shelbyville girls basketball team earned a HHC win at New Castle Friday. The Golden Bears handled the Trojans, 75-31. The Golden Bears were led in scoring by Kylee Edwards with 27 points. Junior Madison Phares had 15 points and Freshman Ava Wilson scored 11 points for the Bears. Shelbyville moves to 4-4 on the year and 1-1 in the HHC. The JV Team defeated New Castle as well to move to 3-5 on the year. Both Teams will be back in action Tuesday night vs. Greenfield-Central.

SHS Swim and Dive team split the contest last night with Warren Central High School. The girls lost with a score of 69 to 99, while the boys won with a score of 93 to 72. The team combined for 13 career PRs, 13 season PRs, and 2 Golden Bear Top Ten swims. This meet has proven to be a jumping point for the Golden Bears in the past. While the career PR numbers typically drop at this meet due to a full month and a half plus of training Warren Central always brings out the grit and determination in the athletes. This meet is a battle year after year, with good races in every event from top to bottom. This year was no exception with more than half the event wins coming by 4 seconds or less. The girls’ 100 Freestyle had just a 1.37 second difference from 1st to 4th place. The Golden Bears proved they are ready to step up to the competition. With HHC looming next week, this meet was a great sign of things to come for the Golden Bears.
Individual highlights for the evening include:
Miriam Garringer breaking the 1 minute mark in the 100 Freestyle for the first time in her swim career. Miriam also swam a 26. 46 in her 50 Freestyle, a drop of .5 seconds.
Yui Fukuzawa and Raven Bolden continue to improve in their senior year. Yui continues to make a push for the 4th spot in the 200 Freestyle Relay, dropping more time again in her 50 Freestyle. Raven broke 1:30.00 in the 100 Breaststroke for the first time in her swim career.
Will Rife and Tyler Harker continue to lead the way for the boys side. Will dropping even more time in his 50 Butterfly and continuing to improve the 200 Medley Relay. Tyler continues to out do every matching performance from last season. Last night marking his 10th time, in as many swims, he’s swam faster than that point the previous year.
Trey Carrell got back on track, proving he’s ready to step up to the A 200 Freestyle Relay. dropping back down into the 24s for his 50 split. He, Mitchell Compton, Will Rife, and Tyler Harker look to continue the Golden Bears strong 200 Freestyle performances of recent years.

The Lady Golden Bears hosted conference foe New Palestine on Tuesday Night. The Golden Bears were defeated 41-48 in a very hard fought game. Shelbyville was able to cut into an 8 point halftime lead with a good 3rd quarter. The Golden Bears trailed 30-34 heading into the 4th quarter with the basketball. Freshman Ava Wilson led the team in scoring with 11 points. Sophomore guard Kylee Edwards and Junior guard Jaidyn Tackett each had 9 points, while Junior Center Madison Phares added 6 points. The Golden Bears moved to 3-4 on the year and 0-1 in the HHC. The JV Team was defeated by Franklin and moved to 2-5 on the year. The JV and Varsity Teams will travel to New Castle on Friday for another HHC matchup. Basketball starts at 6 pm.
