Boys
Runners of the Day: Chris Valdez, Jim Palmer
These results compared to last years were actually really good. Special "props" to Nathaniel who ran his second race faster then his first! To those of you that competed in both races - that's the way to be tough! Today you all took one step closer to the season and I would say the day was a success. Keep training hard. Make sure your teammates are on the same page as you. Help each other succeed!

Runners of the Day: Jake Cooley, Sergio Meza and Elijah De Rosas
Team time: 86:55
"Props" to our top three who over came a tough two weeks of practice and a loss of a teammate - you three ran tough! Overall you should be happy with yourselves as times were improved. That is a good sign for the rapidly approaching season. A few adjustments need to be made by everyone. Stay healthy! Our goals will come in time! Here's to a great season.

2002 Team Preview
Boys: The La Mirada Boys look forward to a successful 2002 season. With the entire class of 2005 returning, the team is ready to challenge the top teams in the Suburban League. Look for Dag Tesfaye (Sr), Ben Ramirez (Sr), Nathaniel Moore (So), Jared Bird (So), Daniel Lee (So) and Jake Cooley (So) to make great strides this year. Other runners who made significant improvement during the Spring included: Sergio Meza and Mario Perez. Consistent summer training and a willingness to go the extra mile(s) will be the key to a successful 2002 season.

Girls: The 2001 Lady Matadores were by far the best team in La Mirada Cross Country history. The three returning varsity athletes—Amanda Stephens (Jr), Audrey Serrata (Sr), and Vanessa Thomas (Sr) - averaged 20:37 at Mt. SAC last fall. They're healed of their injuries and ready to run full speed! Look for Sonia Linares (So), Jennifer Minero Sr), Ana Poblet (So), and Cynthia Mata (Sr) to contribute this season. Others who are showing improvement are Kendal Van Wuyckhuyse (So) and Destinie Martin (Fr). The Matadores intend to go "Back-to-Back in 2002" and repeat as Suburban League Champions.
