To all runners: please be at the practice Monday, it is very important to continue to be in shape, especially if you're planning to make it at camp. We will be meeting at 6pm and will be doing a light workout after weights. Also, thank you to all of you who showed up to the car wash. To all runners let me know if you would like to go to Wild Rivers either July 9, or August 6 before we leave to camp. See you all Monday. kelly

2005: New Captains Named

Posted by Ralph Casas at Jun 14, 2005 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Is this what team captains do in their spare time?
New team leaders are already beginning to prepare for the upcoming Cross Country season. Veteran runners, Kelly Wilson (Sr), Jenna Pasillas (Jr), Karina Gonzalez (So), and Krystal Gomez (So) were named 2005 captains of the girls team. Senior runner Andrew Diaz is currently the sole captain of the boys team. Kelly, in her 4th season, earned the respect and confidence of her teammates last season and is the sole returning captain from last year's team. Krystal, winner of last season's "Coach's Award," is recuperating from an injury sustained during track season; she will look to Kelly for guidance in her new position. Jenna, a 3rd year cross country athlete, brings varsity experience and lots of enthusiasm to the job. She will work closely with last year's "Rookie of the Year," Karina Gonzalez as leaders of the varsity crew. Andrew is excited about the opportunity to work with the veterans and newcomers to rebuild the boys team.

At their last meeting, the captains outlined plans for the 2005 summer training program. Activities, races, training and summer camp are all included in their plans. When summer training begins, each captain will be responsible for and work closely with a specific group of runners. Stay tuned for more!
