Posted by Dale Dubois at Apr 6, 2003 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
As you are all aware the practice yesterday was postponed due to snow. Check your email and the website for updates regarding this weekends opening game at Hollis. No word yet whether the game is on or not. It will depend on the weather tomorrow... stay tuned...
There will be a meeting and practice on Sunday April 6th @ 10:00 AM at our home field, Legacy Field, in Bedford. Our first game is the following Sunday at Hollis so lets try and knock the ball around for a bit. Also, there are a number of new league and team rules that we would like to go over at this time so your attendance is important. At this time we are not sure if we can practice on the field or not, but lets meet there and we can decide if we need to move to a different site. Playing Fee is $60 for this season. Make checks payable to Peter Hall or Cash works too. Sunday would be a great time to pay up.
The Bedford Pacers are to open the spring season Sunday April 13, at 9:00 AM against the Hollis Overlook at Hollis High School. The Pacers will have a few new faces as the begin their quest for that Division 2 crown. The opener should prove to be a tough battle for the Pacers as Hollis won the Division championship this past fall season. Bedford's home opener will take place the following weekend, April 20th at Legacy Park in Bedford. The Pacers will take on the PAC Lowell team, a favorite moving up from Division 3N. Lowell will be looking to avenge the thrashing they got the last time these two teams meet. Game time is at 9:00 AM as always for home games. This season should be packed with some fine soccer so come and catch a game. Grab the kids, the dog, a box of Dunkin Donuts or bagels and have breakfast at the field. As always, kids and small animals are admitted free.
The Bedford Pacers finished the fall season on a loosing note to the feet of Hollis Overlook in Hollis yesterday, 4-1. The Pacers were missing key players again, which placed a heavy burden on the players that came out to play on this beautiful Sunday morning. Carlos Del Carpio got the nod in the net for Bedford. Chris Cloutier would start at sweeper and move to an "offensive" stopper position as the Pacer fell behind earlier in the game. The surface of the field was very rough so it made passing the ball a challenge. Scoring goals for Hollis was not a challenge, as they would go up 3-0 by half time. The second half would continue like the first ended. Hollis would remain in control for the first ten minutes, and raising the score by one. Bedford would finally pick up the pace, stringing three consecutive passes together a few times. Rob Easton, who got his share of running in playing center mid, would find John Guild open in front of the net. John would take the 20 yard pass and turn it beating the Hollis substitute keeper. Bedford would look sharper for the remaining 30 minutes but could not score. The game would end 4-1. Bedford finished its first season in Division 2 in 4th place. Not a bad start in this much more talented division. Great job Pacers. End of the season means Statistical awards. This year the winners of each catagory get an all expense paid trip to Pinardville to visit the Panda Museum. Leading Scorer Award: with 5 Goals: Jeff Guild Most Assists Award: with 3 assists: Rob Easton, Jon Cloutier, Dale Dubois Bad Boy Award: with 2 yellow cards: Scott Sharby Cal Ripken Award: playing all 10 games: Dale Dubois Congratulations to all winners. Contact Peter Hall for your prizes. The Bedford Pacers would like to thank all of our fan support that came out. We hope that everyone enjoyed the season. Look for the Pacers go back at it in the Spring of 2002. The Spring season usually starts the first or second Sunday in April. Have a great winter...
