SPALDING SURVIVES AN OVERTIME SCARE FROM E. ROOSEVELT

Bowers “3” sends game to overtime 12/20/2002 At 7’-0”, Will Bowers has not attempted many three-point field goals during his career, but the senior center drained one last night, with just four-seconds remaining in regulation, to send top ranked Archbishop Spalding to overtime, where it claimed a 56-51 victory over Eleanor Roosevelt High School, in Green Belt. For Bowers, who will play at the University of Maryland next year, it was just his second career trey. In this contest, he scored 19-points and had 10-rebounds. Junior Rudy Gay also had another huge night for the Cavaliers, scoring 29-points and collecting 10-rebounds. The Cavs (6-0, 2-0 in the A Conference) return to league play this Sunday with a huge 1:45 pm matchup at #4 Mount St. Joseph.
