BEN WATKINS CALLED UP TO AA

Posted by Chris Pfeil at Aug 7, 2010 5:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )
Ben Watkins has been called up to the Trenton Thunder, the AA Affiliate of the New York Yankees.  The former Johnstown AAABA League Pitcher of the Year was called up to help solidify Trenton's bullpen for the playoffs.

Trenton will take on the Altoona Curve in the Eastern League Championship Series.  Games 1 and 2 of the Best of Five Series will be played in Altoona on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Andy Pettitte, who is on rehab assignment, will get the start for Trenton in Game 1 on Tuesday.

Watkins, who played for us from 2004-2007, was on the Staten Island Yankees last season when they won the New York-Penn League (A) Championship.  Watkins was the winning pitcher in the decisive game.  Watkins was called up from the Charleston River Dogs.
