MLB DRAFT: MCNULTY TO METS

Former Johnstown Grays standout Doug McNulty was selected in the Major League Draft in the 49th Round by the New York Mets.

McNulty helped lead the Grays to Back-to-Back titles in 2004 and 2005.  McNulty won the AAABA League Triple Crown in 2004 and was named League MVP in 2005.

MECHLING NAMED A-10 PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Former Johnstown Grays standout Derek Mechling was selected Atlantic 10 Player of the Year.  Mechling led the Duquesne Dukes in 12 offensive categories, including home runs (12), RBI (42), runs scored (57), and stolen bases (17).  Mechling batted .348 on the season and led the A-10 with a .402 conference average.  Mechling becomes only the second Duquesne player to pick up the award.  Mechling was also selected to the Academic All-Conference Team with  a 3.47 GPA.  In addition, Mechling was  named a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award, given annualy to the nation's top catcher.
