Ben Watkins was drafted on Thursday by the New York Yankees in the 40th Round of the Major League Baseball Draft. Watkins has been assigned to the Staten Island Yankees, the Class A Affiliate.
Watkins appeared in the AAABA Tournament all four years of his playing career. He went in 2004 and 2005 with the Johnstown Grays, now Martella's Pharmacy, and was a pick up player in 2006 and 2007.
Watkins won the Pete Vuckovich Award in 2007 as the most valuable pitcher in the Johnstown AAABA League. He went 6-0 with five complete games, 34 strikeouts and a 0.74 ERA.

DINARDO AND OSWALT SELECTED AS PICK UP PLAYERS
Andrew DiNardo and Jake Oswalt were selected as pick up players by Delweld for the National AAABA Tournament.
Oswalt batted .308 with five doubles, a triple and a home run this season. He added 26 runs scored, 26 RBI's, and 14 stole bases.
DiNardo went 4-1 with 3 saves and a 0.85 ERA in 49.2 innings this season. DiNardo struck out 29 and walked 16.
Delweld also selected Tom Burkett of the GMI Renegades and Gregg Bandzuh from Principle Development. The National AAABA Tournament begins on August 11.
PETROWSKY AND WATKINS SELECTED AS PICK UP PLAYERS
Delweld also selected Matt Hanley and Paul Bugajski of Principle Development to add to their roster.
